cody3545 8 Posted August 9 Hi everyone I have a Dual Firespray list I'm gonna run soon and I was wondering peoples thoughts on Proton Bombs vs Proximity Mines. I've run both Protons and Proximitys before on other lists. I'm just not sure which one is more beneficial to the list. I've had times where I couldn't drop either because of ship placement. I've also had times where one would have worked better than the other. I'm probably over thinking it and the 2 are really situational as to which one has the advantage. I'm really wondering peoples thoughts on possibly spreading 1 crit to multiple ships with protons twice vs doing possibly 3 damage to one ship with proximitys twice. Here's the list. If I'm gonna run dual Proximitys then I would drop Koshkas sheild to a Hull. I could run 1 Proton and 1 Proximity but I would like to keep the Devices the same for simplicitys sake. Also if I run one of each I'm not sure which one to put on Boba I would say Protons because it seems like a better option to keep ships of its rear. Although I'm not sure thats why I would like to keep the Devices the same. List 1 Boba (86) Total (111) Maul (12) Proton Bombs (5) Contraband Cybernetics (2) Sheild Upgrade (6) Koshka Frost (70) Total (88) 0-0-0 (5) Proton Bombs (5) Contraband Cybernetics (2) Sheild Upgrade (6) Total (199) List 2 Boba (86) Total (112) Maul (12) Proximity Mines (6) Contraband Cybernetics (2) Sheild Upgrade (6) Koshka Frost (70) Total (88) 0-0-0 (5) Proximity Mines (6) Contraband Cybernetics (2) Hull Upgrade (5) Total (200)
KingmanHighborn 167 Posted August 10 This is pure personal taste, but I prefer bombs over mines, because I find they are easier to land. (Larger threat coverage) And where it matters, ships with reload can recover the charges. I also have a slight aversion to one use and done upgrades. (Contraband Cybernetics being the exception to the rule.) There is something to say though if you have a means of ion or tractor. As nothing is better than ionizing someone and watching them drift into; or tractoring them onto a proxy mine. Or clusters... But for general play, yeah protons and seismics are boss. theBitterFig 11,598 Posted August 10 I think I've had an easier time with Bombs, but I've seen Mines do some nasty stuff. I'd be sure to cut down the Prox Mines for Proton Bombs, however, to get Rigged Cargo Chute on Koshka instead of Contraband. That's got massive potential for disruption of an opponent's moves, plus getting Koshka rerolls. I wouldn't take it on Boba, and just stick with Contraband Cybernetics, but I'd rate that Rigged Cargo Chute as more important than a bomb or mine. JBFancourt 1,261 Posted August 11 I’m a Prox mines man everyday twice on Sunday. 1) they don’t hurt me. 2) I already know if they they’ll hit before I drop.
Archangelspiv 2,099 Posted August 19 I like bombs on Ships that can reload, on a Firespray I’m more inclined to lean to job the device will do in the list. If it’s just an incase, would the points be better used elsewhere or for a bid? If you want to block up a piece of Space, proxies are great, you want to split up a swarm? Can’t go past a well placed proton. Every upgrade in a list needs a reason to be there, a job to do, otherwise it’s easy MoV to your opponent.
