No discussions about Yoda's species was also a BIG rule of Lucas, and yet...

We still have no discussions about yoda's species , only another example of it, that also happens to be a force sensitive macguffin

And an entire upcoming season about hunting for "The Child's people" which would be other members of Yoda's species. Even having a character of the species was a big no no for anyone not Lucas when he introduce Yaddle.

Lucas hated Mara Jade to the point that he kicked people out of interviews when she was brought up. I think its safe to say that we will never see her as long as Lucas is alive.

Lucas hated a lot of EU stuff and would often change and/or steal whatever he pleased. Korriban to Moraband being one of the stupider (petty?) examples. I remember as a kid he would often change if Boba Fett lived or died in interviews every few years. His relationship to Star Wars was not the best lol. Sort of funny now to see the fans that drove him out of Star Wars trying to get him back in to replace the person he picked himself.

Dash Rendar perhaps? I don't know if he's shown up in the Disney canon, but he (or his ship) is in at least one version of one of the movies, which technically makes him potentially canon.

He was added back into canon in the book "Solo: A Star Wars Story: Tales from Vandor" according to the Wookiepedia canon article about the character.

If Dash ever gets some development he will be a very different character then from Legends. Pablo Hidalgo (can't find the tweet) hated that character. Along the lines of a Han Solo 90s knock off with shoulder pads.

Would love to read that contract that Lucas made with Disney to see what stipulations he put in there. We know about the laws of the universe was part of the deal as well as killing the holiday special, but what else? Did Lucas throw in no Mara Jade and Luke cannot have any kids since he seemed to hate that idea so much? will we ever get any info on Yoda's species?

Does get interesting when you realize that they brought back so many other characters like Jaxxon, Thrawn, Revan, Valance, and Lumpy.

I wouldn't be surprised at a change to Dash's character, Thrawn was changed as well when he was brought back. It would give him more depth than "replacement Han while Han is in carbonite."

If they can't give any information about Yoda's species, then introducing the character of The Child at all would likely have been out of the question. Already we now know that the species matures much slower which is why it lives so long. Before we just knew that they could live for centuries, not that their developmental rate was similarly slowed. We also know that they are innately strong force users. As the Mandalorian searches, more information is likely to be gathered, or else that plotline will get stale.

Plus, isn't Yoda supposed to be a focus character for the high republic stuff? Its possible he isn't, but I thought I had heard something about following him around when he was just a Jedi Knight. That will also likely lead to more information, one way or another.

Yes we may still get nothing about Yodas species , if you ever watched "The Gallery" series you will very clearly see that Dave Filoni is one of the biggest Lucas fanboys and will likely not to against his wishes of revealing info on the species. In fact I have every respect for Lucas as a world builder and story teller, the stories were better made by collaboration with another film maker examples

A New Hope was collaborated with his wife

Empire Strikes Back was with Kasdan

Return of the Jedi IMO was a great story that was marred by the money grab for cute toys (ewoks). My own suspension of disbelief went out the window when these cute teddy bears were shown pinging toy arrows at stormtroopers that wouldn't have gone through flesh never mind armor. Had they been shown to be more effective against them i think I'd like this film more.

The prequels suffered from having no-one to curb him on certain things like clunky dialogue or having exposition, had he had someone like Filoni /Kasdan / Favreau to work with him they could at least a steer the ship in the right direction, not that I dislike the prequels I loved them (yes and the sequels too, I even really like The Last Jedi because it dared to do things differently)

Example the Clone Wars ninja episode (Bounty, clone wars season 4 episode 20) , Lucas wanted to put young Boba in a dress , which Filoni knew would be universally disliked.

Xwing isn't canon, and Filoni, and many others do care about what Lucas's vision was , there was a panel where they announced Thrawn in Rebels where someone asked about Mara Jade and the answer was a very stern no, it's also been explained that the force negative creatures (can't remember the name) were another idea that Lucas hated simply because it it lives it's got to be of the force.

IMO not having an overall story arc from the beginning hurt the sequel overall storyline , the number of introduced plot holes makes the OT look sane. I will say that if the OT had been released now I'm sure people would have hated on that just as much. ESB was far from well liked on release as well. Rotj was seen as a cash grab for toys.

Interestingly enough while X-wing, Legion, and Armada are not canon a lot of aspects are being used by Disney canon. Seems to  be a healthy relationship between the two companies. Disney lets them use the IP and FFG often creates names for moves or ship parts. FFG getting to first show the Starhawk, the CIS tank stream said they got to give names to unnamed stuff, and even their recent X-wing reveal they said they got to name the new A-wing pilot skill.

As for the OT being released today I totally agree it would get sooooooo much hate. Re watching the OT the political tones and social messages are not very subtle and I would not be surprised if Leia (especially her in 4) would be despised.

As a side note: Find it really funny that 3,6, and 9 all suffer from the same problem. Two movies forced together, a waste of good ideas with poor execution, and being held together by the great Ian McDiarmid.

I find your amazement... confusing.

The gameplay mechanics and the individual battles fought by players aren't canon (obviously), but every single titbit of lore released in all new media/products since Disney killed off the Expanded Universe is canonical (including all games of all types - other than expansions to Star Wars: The Old Republic). Having a (supposedly) contradiction-free "everything counts now" approach was the whole official reason given for the EU purge. (No, not J.J. Genius being unwilling - and perhaps unable - to work within an IP's established continuity for once...)

while xwing does a have a bunch of EU stuff it in I think that's a relic of not removing stuff that existed in 1.0. As far as I know everything new introduced in 2.0 is from canon and similarily everything in legion is from canon. I will be super surprised if they break from that.

Sorry must have not been clear enough. I just thought it was cool that FFG had some leeway to name some guns and some moves.  I just figured that Disney would have complete control and dominate everything that FFG made.

As for the purge of the EU I know that is a sore spot for a lot of people (understandably so), but I think they made the right call in the end. Lucas lack of control/respect for all the other materiel not his own ended up with a giant mess of contradictions in characters and events. I truly have no idea how they would picked what was canon or not when Disney took over? Ahsoka alone made several years worth of video games, comics, and books not canon......................... Maybe a fairy tale like universe with everything being true and false at the same time, but what then with the movies? Not counting the hate people have for a lot of EU stuff like the Vong or Luuke.

Pretty much this. Just can't cut out ships out of the game completely. Only ones who really stand out that could cause trouble is maybe the K-wing and the 4 versions of IG-88. They purged several charters in the change like Juno Eclipse and Mara Jade from the game.

So Mara was removed from the game, makes me even more likely to say they won't add her in Legion

It is both obvious and documented that the OT was made up as they went along. It’s clear from Episode IV that Luke and Leia were never intended to be siblings, Vader being Luke’s father wasn’t even in the initial draft of Empire. Yoda initially wasn’t going to be in RotJ at all, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Yoda were going to be resurrected from the force at the end of RotJ, etc.

The notion that the OT was well plotted out in advance is just untrue.

In the very beginning, in 1977, the movie was simply Star Wars, with no plans for a sequel. "Episode IV" was added later.

Yes and No. Lucas did make a long long story for star wars and it was cut down for the new hope one. Granted, while stuff from this cut part made it into empire and rotj ALOT of stuff changed during the way, I think a framework existed in Lucas mind though that ended with death star boom and natives beating the empire. However it's hard to find out the truth from mr. changes his story all the time lucas.

Also it was a completly different time for movies. It was still better plotted than, let's give the second part to this random guy that want to piss of the fans and hope it turn out XD.

I know that the ST gets a lot of flack for not really having a story line thought all three films (you know besides make more money), but man Lucas did a pretty bad job with the PT. I mean TPM and AotC are pretty much the same movie and RoTS is stuck with doing every idea and plot point at breakneck speed.

Ill be honest I sort of do not really understand the fandom now. The love for the prequels is sort of crazy now (and I defended 1 and 3 for years). The fandom that drove Lucas out with years of hate want him back? Figure at this point the ST will be loved in 10 years especially if the fans got over who shot first, sand, and midichlorians.

Playing with the new t-Series. This seems like silly fun. Some lists will just up and shred it, but fun none the less:

General Grievous (175 + 17 = 192)
--Strict Orders (5), DT-57 Annihilator (12)

B2 Super Battle Droids (48 + 50 = 98)
--B2-HA Trooper (32), T-series Tactical Droid (18)

B2 Super Battle Droids (48 + 44 = 92)
--B2-ACM Trooper (26), T-series Tactical Droid (18)

I think The Clone Wars is responsible for a lot of that.

Its because all the kids who grew up watching the prequels are now adults. I practically lived off the clone wars tv show, sure I had seen all the films but my main source of SW content for years was that show, and so I'll always have a soft spot for those characters and factions. I have a feeling that in 5-10 years we will see a similar thing with the sequels as the kids who grew up watching them mature.

What do people think about using the T-Series personnel upgrade in place of a heavy weapon in B1 units (to keep points low)?  Compared to the E-5C they're the same price, and you trade a bit of offence (0.75 average hits vs. 1.5) for losing AI: Attack, gaining Reliable 1, and your "heavy" being the unit leader.  And if the surge from reliable is available when the unit attacks, the average hits is very close to the E-5C (about 2.9 vs. 3).

Other than having to buy 4+ boxes to get how many T-Series models I would need, it seems like a pretty good trade-off.  Thoughts?

I could see doing it on 1-2 of the squads, but not all of them if you're running AT (which you should be) since surge tokens grant diminishing returns. Also remember that the E-5C does better with aims than that unit will. Definitely a neat idea though that should be tested.
