Saizo 0 Posted December 21, 2008 How many ol' school players here placed everything in a ziploc bag, gingerly placed it in the box after removing the bulky cardboard insert? Ain't too proud to say, "I did" Some might find that blasphemus, I say it is organization. All ships and planets have their own little cozy bag. No mixed up and searching for anything. The Warp 23 Posted December 21, 2008 The day I discovered The Container Store was a great for my Cosmic Encounter materials... I have small boxes, large boxes, card boxes, token containers, alien boxes, boxes for the boxes.... it's a little much, but what can one do?
Saizo 0 Posted December 21, 2008 LOL. Yeah, it's a bit OCD--but then. . .
Paul Grogan 0 Posted December 22, 2008 I'm with you here. The first thing I do thesedays is remove the cardboard insert and ziploc bag everything. When I go to Essen any buy 10-15 new games, the bin in the hotel room is filled with cardboard inserts. Sacrilidge - maybe.Practical - yes. I travel with my games a lot and they tip on their side. Without things in ziploc bags, I would have have lost so many components.
Podtrooper 0 Posted December 22, 2008 Guilty! As is every board/card game I own. So much so, that it's become a running joke among my friends. Especially when they have to empty 10 or more bags to play my (2nd Ed) Talisman, etc. It's a habit I picked up from the olden days of (original) Axis & Allies, Blitzkrieg and other wargames, not to lose all the little cardboard counters. One of the more reliable Laws, is that game parts will find thier way out of the box.
Saizo 0 Posted December 22, 2008 Isn't that the truth. I've had wonderful games that I took great pains to keep together, i.e. Magic Realm, and one day I went to play it and pieces....gone! I did a moratorium for it that day and just put the game back in the bookshelf.
slagbeast 0 Posted December 23, 2008 ziplocked here too.Even went to the local office supply store and got plastic 5X7 signholders to display the aliens as we play.
Saizo 0 Posted December 23, 2008 Hey, Fido-- Great idea on the card holders. Might have to do that myself. Thanks for the tip.
RobertDG 0 Posted December 24, 2008 It's not a sin to be organized, no matter how badly people may tease you for it. I've done this kind of thing since I bought my first real board game, and have never regretted doing so. For my Mayfair CE set, I used clear plastic film canisters for each set of tokens. Now I use small ziplock bags I found in an office supply store for small tokens, and card holders to keep my decks separated and ready for play. Spieler1042266 0 Posted December 25, 2008 There are Games where Boxes are pretty good, but FFG Games just have so many tiles that I think it's almost impossible to design and produce HQ-inserts for a reasonable price. I use zip-locs and plastic boxes since i bought TI3 2d ed
