I dont see why Rex makes a better commander for a tank force.  This list seems to have everything you need to go to battle.

Should be easy enough to delete two units to even out activation quickly.

List is pretty self explanitory.  R2 allows for the tank to be regularly ordered and repaired.  Obi protects troops and guards vs assault.  Everything else is Clone firepower, Basically.....!

Seven activations is not enough, and unless your opponent plays foolishly, You certainly do not have the firepower to quickly delete units. An opponent with 10+ activations can easily wait you out and then counter punch.

Agreed. With rex it allows you to sit around 9 activations rather than 7 which let's you compete against higher activation lists.

With 3PO its actually 8 activations here.

3PO is not a separate activation. He is a part of R2D2's unit, much like a heavy weapons specialist to a clones squad. See his Counterpart: R2-D2 ability.

I've basically come to the conclusion that Obi and the tank are kind of exclusive; one or the other, but not both.

YMMV of course but with such expensive trooper options, the Republic has to pick and choose their high point models carefully.

I played a game recently where I brought both Obi and the tank. Obi did some serious damage and tied up my opponent's Vader, and the tank pulled some weight as well. All of that said though, I lost both units and a desperate secret mission push by R2 failed, costing me the game. I could see taking both working if you got some decent dice rolls and played it right, but I generally agree with you here.
