Rebel ships

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

Just started playing 2.0 having not played since around wave IV of 1.0. Was wondering if there are any ships I should be looking at in particular. I've played two games of 2.0 and I've really enjoyed using xwings since they didn't really work in1.0 it felt like. Am considering the Ghost simply on the basis that its a gorgeous model.

B-wings are excellent, made better with the sfoils upgrade for them found in Hotshots and Aces.

Awing is decent - mainly Jake or Arvel.

If you can find a copy of Saw’s Renegades (will look like a 1.0 box), I recommend it - it has 2.0 cards already in the box that are unique to it. More t65 pilots plus a 2.0 ready Uwing. And that U is a great support platform (so is K2SO pilot for it, also found in hotshots and aces).

The Falcon is a classic too - albeit the best pilot for it is the original owner (Lando).

All the standard Wing ships for Rebels are all good, A-Wings being the weakest of the 5 in my opinion but that's just compared to the others. They are still pretty good with Jake being support and Arvel using Intimadation.

So just in case you don't know what I mean by Wing ships I mean the A,B,U,X, and Y Wings.

The Falcon and Z-95 are also good ships as well.

After that the rest of the ships are okay, nothing stellar but not horrible either.

Except maybe the Auzituck. Wookies got punished.

Oh, and just to add to my above post for rebels all the content is in the starter, the conversion kit and hotshots and aces.

And Saw's Renegades. Only way to get those particular U Wing and X Wing pilots and crew cards.

Good catch thanks.  The tube brothers are great for learning formation flying.

You all can fight me, the A-wing just got its role changed to support craft/blocker. I am a firm believer that any rebel list that doesn't include Jake is wrong, and Arvel is terrifying for the points if only for the unique interaction with the Boba+Fenn matchup.

I'd say the Y-wing's the weakest of the OG rebel ships, it just lacks the tricks the B-Wing has and the flexibility the A/X have and the turret slot doesn't make up for it imo.

I don’t have to fight - I said the A was decent. I think you’re over selling Jake as he isn’t an auto include in any list, but I admit when building a rebel list and I only have the points for an A or some sort of pocket ship, I just reach for Jake.

This isn't 1.0. Might be time to let that go.

Ffg seems to disagree? Honestly, I was being a little flippant on purpose. I’m glad they’re not as good for sure, but I do like a world where any ship can fly. With the latest revisions the jumpmaster is finally back as a playable ship just not an auto include. Maybe they find the way to solve the wookies?

Wookies had it coming just like the jumpmaster did.

I mean, that's not wrong.  1e Wookiees had a stronger Reinforce action, more health, and passive mods.  I never really played the 4 ship version with weak offensive mods, but more often Expertise/Tactician 3-ship.  Really loved it.  But it ought to remain in the past.

At very least, however, Wookiees are a lot more fixable with points than Jumpmasters (although the cannon slot has done great!).  Shave off enough points, and these things will be totally reasonable ships.  A generic at 41 would put them the same as a B-Wing, and I think it'd be playable without being too strong.

I may have come across a bit argumentative,  but I can't think of a better way to spend 36-9 points in the game. He's leaps and bounds better than Dutch for double mod potential, can't fail like Garven can, is almost 20 points cheaper than Kyle, has 3 evade, I4, and that maneuverability over AP5, and in extended can be a real threat with predator and crack shot. Against generic lists he gets to be Soontir fel by double repositioning with focus, and against aces he blocks like a madman, and every shot at him is a shot not going toward your main threats. In conclusion the RZ-1 A-wing may not be the piece you want to close a game with, but it's the most influential piece the rebels have.

Since we are talking Rebel Ships, anybody want to share the Rebel list they were using before Covid shut down everything?

Extended or hyperspace?

Here’s something I was messing around with:

Heroes of Endor

(55) Wedge Antilles [T-65 X-wing]
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(1) Crack Shot
(13) Proton Torpedoes
Points: 69

(79) Lando Calrissian [Modified YT-1300 Light Freighter]
(5) Nien Nunb
(8) K-2SO
Points: 92

(36) Jake Farrell [RZ-1 A-wing]
(1) Crack Shot
Points: 37

Total points: 198

Can drop proton torps to tool up Jake with prockets and mix and match some upgrades to taste.

Probably playing more Resistance and Silencers, but the last Rebel list I was playing around with:

  • Luke (R2-D2)
  • Wedge (Predator)
  • Norra Wexley (ARC) (Expert Handling, K-2SO, Veteran Tail Gunner)

VTG is mostly because I've got an alt-art VTG with Dak Ralter, who matches the Hoth/T-49 Luke and Wedge.  K-2SO feels nice on Norra to me.  I like that it makes her harder to ignore, since with her defensive ability, she'll often go unharassed, and ramping up her offense when ignored is nice.  She can keep the Calc for herself (and potentially everyone in the list has double mods), or toss it over to Wedge, giving him more freedom to Barrel Roll or such.

//

Best Rebel list I've played against shortly before to everything: Leia and 3 Blue Escort X-Wings.  Felt really nice.  Everyone can move so well (close + focus + boost is amazing!), with a lot of firepower.  Leia breaks up the monoculture of a 5 X-Wing list nicely, providing a different kind of threat.

Also, Snap Crackle Pop.  Five Snap Shot/Crack Shot Green A-Wings.  Deceptively potent.

- Named Bwings (Gina, Ten, Braylen) with various wingmen: Arvel, Jake, Blount, Blue X-Wings

- Double Awings, double Ewings

- Luke & Han

- Spectre lists from the Rebel show

I played a list that I simply have a lot of success with it.  Many tools, and it hits surprisingly hard:

Heff Tobber (44)
    Intimidation (3)
    Leia Organa (7)
    Lando Calrissian (2)
    Tactical Scrambler (2)
    Pivot Wing (0)
Ship total: 58  Half Points: 29  Threshold: 4

Braylen Stramm (52)
    Crack Shot (1)
Ship total: 53  Half Points: 27  Threshold: 4

Lieutenant Blount (30)
    Crack Shot (1)
Ship total: 31  Half Points: 16  Threshold: 2

Wedge Antilles (55)
    Crack Shot (1)
    Servomotor S-Foils (0)
Ship total: 56  Half Points: 28  Threshold: 3
Total: 198

The last list I was able to play "for real" was:

- Leia (K-2SO)
- Luke (Servomotor S-Foils)
- Thane (R4 Astromech, Servomotor S-Foils)
199 points

It worked really well.

As for my favorite Rebel ships in 2.0, I'd say the Falcon, the B-Wing and the X-Wing.
