"our?"

Yes. A figurative "our". As in the businesses that exist in the whole of our society. Our businesses. Much like our languages and our schools and our food.

Heck given the setup of my diversified retirement account I probably literally own a tiny sliver of Disney, too though!

Star Wars is not hard sci-fi. It follows the "rule of cool"

So Im not really bothered by fast travel all that much. I get more bothered by stuff like Kylo Ren flying a TIE/ln Fighter, which is not hyperspace capable in decades of canon and legends material, from a moon of Endor to Exegol.

Well at least the author of the book paid attention, and only created a new variant of the TIE fighter called the TIE scout which is hyperspace capable.

Looking at that map I see Tatooine is in the complete opposite direction from Coruscant when setting off from Naboo.  I could put Phantom Menace on to find out but can anyone remember off the top of my head why they end up going there to start with?

I believe their ship got damaged and they couldn't make it to Coruscant, they also chose Tatooine because the trade federation didn't have a presence there.

When does he do that?  Does he find one on the miraculously intact Death Star after Ray nicks his own ship?  I think I've blotted out memory of a lot of that film.  I should rewatch it.

Ah yeah, that rings a bell.  Because it's owned by the Hutts.  Well, that's plausible I suppose, if the TF was present almost everywhere so they had no choice but to go the opposite direction.

yeah, you don't actually see him do it, all you see is him walking toward the Sith temple with Lukes X-Wing and what looks like a TIE/ln in the background. As i mentioned earlier the novel fixes the mistake with a slightly less ridiculous brand new TIE scout that is just a TIE /ln with a hyperdtive.

isn't Toydaria the name of a species not a planet?

It's both.

Toydarians from Toydaria.

Nemoidians from Cato Nemodia

Terrans from Terra (aka earth)

Vulcans from Vulcan

Scandanvians from Scandanavia

and on and on and on

Scandanavians .... they are all called Dan and all they do is run around in their vans and scan things.

BTW, species name is human, not terrain. Technically everything thing from Earth is considered terrain, even those evil murder wasps and viruses. It is just lazy to call a species after the planet name and incorrect to do so.

Also, is Vulcan the name of the actual species? Vulcans and Romunains are the same species but differentiated by the planet they live on. Maybe a Trekkie would know. Also, Trekkie not a species name even if they are subhuman.

They're not the same species but they share a close common ancestor. But technically all bipedal humanoid species in the Star Trek universe share common ancestry but that's going deep into not Star Wars universe building.

Yeah, star trek gets all weird with the panspermia stuff. Romulans and Vulcans are the same species though. When they adopted the logic philosophy, the ones that rejected it went to Romulans and it fractured their civilization in two. It why they don't get along. Also the original series had a small budget so they just recycled the Spock makeup when they needed to make up a new alien. I vaguely remember something about that species originating from another planet and both Vulcan and Romulus are colonies. Not sure on that point though. Maybe it was just hinted at in Picard or some other Trek series, which there is 100s of hours of at this point, so who knows.

Pablo Hildalgo I have one question for you that grows with each passing day....

The guy's been working with Disney-Canon for five years now and has had to oversee the continuity of the Sequel Trilogy for god's sake.  At this point, I'm sure he realizes that no matter how much you polish turds, you're still left with slightly shinier turds.  I think the bar is basically now just checking to make sure no author/writer/director confuses Han Solo for Luke's father.  Space geography is way too low on the list, and besides you can travel anywhere in the Galaxy now in about 12 minutes, so what two points aren't "close by"?

And has been working with LFL since the later 90s and took over from the previous "keeper of the holocron", however to be honest the facts weren't exactly straight previously. The thing about Toydaria and Ryloth references an early clone wars episode and predates Disney "Canon".

Hyperspace has always moved at the speed of plot, and many of the things shown do not contradict other canon, they do however contradict much of the earlier written media material , in particular the RPG.

Depending on who you believe though Lucas only considered the 6 Films and Clone Wars, to be canon , he just didn't contradict the writers of the time from believing what they did wasn't , much of which was also contradicting itself as well. The map shown is however supposed to be canon though as is the clone wars episode. As far as I can see there is nothing here contradicting the episode.

Yup, as I said I can't find anything to contradict the clone wars here. The older map was taken from the older rpg and afaik has never been canon if GL is to be believed.

that isn't the only canon map there are others that do have those planets and as is stated in the OP they are no where near each other.

you can find them here https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-essential-atlas-online-companion

note that while this was written in '09 the updated appendix is from '15 and put out by Disney.

Yes, however even at that point apparently Mr Lucas only considered the 6 Films canon and the second Disney clone wars. The "official" books weren't considered canon by Lucas.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the current state of the map and my complaints with Pablo Hildalgo
