What is your favorite generic?

Recommended Posts

I was messing around with list building and realized as much as I love aces, for a few ships, the generics are my favorites. I love CLT Jedi knights, and Tansarii Point Vets with marksmanship and auto blasters are 33 points well spent in my book. What are your favorite generics and how do you build lists with them?

I’m not experienced enough yet to know what my favorite generic is (though I really like the Resistance Black Squadron Ace’s i4, which seems to mix well with a lot of really strong i4 aces). I do know that my LEAST favorite generic is the stupid Imperial Academy Pilot, who always seems to end up exactly where *I* want to be!

Delta Squadron Pilot TIE Defender.

Runners up: Crack Shot/Optics Omega TIE/sf; Ion Cannon Cartel Spacer M3-A Scyk.

*edit* I can't believe I forgot generic Silencers! I've greatly enjoyed both First Order Test Pilots and Sienar-Jaemus Engineers.

+1 to the Delta Squadron Defender and the Tansarii Point Veteran.

I'd also like to acknowledge my love of the Binayre Pirate and the Black Sun Soldier.  Not that they're great (they're not), but I love the aesthetic of the model and enjoy trying (unsuccessfully) to make them work in my lists.  Likewise the Black Sun Ace--I know in my heart that the Cartel Marauder is better, but I just can't pass up that juicy talent slot.

If i ever splash out on 3 more articulated B-wings, though, it will be Blue Squadron 4-evah.

Sounds like you are experienced enough. :D

I'll second the Black Squadron T-70, but my Imperial heartthrob is the generic Inquisitor TAP, which I essentially consider an upgrade of my favorite 1.0 generic, the Baron of the Empire TAP.

This one, hands down.

There are numerous other generics I love, but they almost all have a named pilot just above them in the pecking order.

Old T > Recruit.

Sunny > Spacer

Vader > Storm

Dalan > BSA

Echo >>>>>>> Sigma

But also, No One > Bounty Hunter. Not even joking.

Not a direct answer to the OP, but the Jedi Knight is easily the generic that's the most cooler than the named pilots.

Special mention to Planetary Sentinel and Scarif Base Pilot, because forced reposition at low initiative is super interesting. X-Wings, because generics with boost that have to sacrifice offense to boost (and make that decision at low initiative); and Fangs, because of their positioning-reliant fragility, are interesting for similar reasons.

Jedi Knight and Zeta Squadron Survivor (Tie SF) are my favorites.

Jedi has the action economy when needed, or just focus + force. Can also be a low cost ship with CLT or a 7b republic x-wing.

Zeta likewise is a multi-functional ship. They can be mini Arc170s for super reasonable (even if only 2 die both direction, the spam numbers make up for it). Or you can load them with passive sensors and missiles to have some pretty affordable 3-die attacks out of either arc.

Rogue squadron escort or grey bomber for the value they bring. In particular the rogues (E wings) are a lot of fun and feel versitile to me since their dial has every move and they have every action and a nice 3 3 3 3 stat line.

Grey squad bomber because of the list @KCdodger loves to fly.

Bravo Sqaudron Pilot; so few points that take so many shots to kill. In the meantime, going fast means you get 3 dice fairly often so your offense isn't terrible.

So many generics I love:

Sabre Squadron Aces, Fang fighters of both types, Cartel Spacers, Cartel Marauders, Scimitar bombers, OGP, Academy pilots, Blue T65s, Red T70s, Phoenix A-wings, Jedi Knights, Gray Y-wings, etc.

Pretty much all of them except Large ship pilots! I really don't like seeing generic Jumpmasters - bring back so many unpleasant memories!
