New player

there are a lot of units for the both Imps and Rebels out there, if you have the money get them all!!

but realistically there are a plethora of buyers guides online and on YouTube even that will tell you what's good for what purpose etc. the ones that Crabbok does on YouTube are a good place to start for new players.

For me at the moment its more about what's actually in stock in my country, which is to say not a lot right now, international shipping has had a significant impact on what we are getting and when we get it.

If you have the money, get 2 core sets to start. Not only is it best value for core troops for both, but the extra dice and materials included help a lot. Trust me when I say 3 of each dice gets rough when rolling. 6 of each is better. From there figure out what style you like. Both the original armies have a lot of choices.

youre going to need a second core set for sure but on top of that youll want some other commander options so get Leia, Han, Veers, and Krennic or Palpatine. Then you'll need some special forces so pick up the commandos and scout troopers. After that, it really depends on your play style and what seems fun to you. Like others have said check out youtube it's incredibly helpful on the subject

I am a new player just getting into miniature gaming.  I am buying the Rebel and imperial core set. What other troops and expansions do you recommend.

Welcome! The game is fantastic.

If you have no plan to play competitive I would say: buy the expansions you want, characters from movies you prefer, you want to paint...

Of course you will need some more core units, if you play rebellion go for a second core set. If you play empire go for shoretrooper (minis are very beautiful and good in game) or.... A second core set for more stormies.

Then buy the commandeurs and the operatives you prefer for empire or rebellion.

Also the specialists boxes give you some droids to paint and diversity in game.

The heavies are not so necessary, but if like me you love the empire machinery, you will not resist to buy one big chicken.
