Finally AT-AT is coming

I just find this at the supermarket (in France)

AT-AT is supposed to be scaled at 1/47 which is not that bad for legion I suppose and includes die cast elements as well as plastic, interiors details...

Not the other way around? They're meant to be taller than they are long.

Regardless - eww, partwork magazines. They're usually limited availability, any copies that end up lost in the mail can bork the entire project, and they always cost a small fortune by the end. I'll stick with 3D printing one.

Depends on which of the 4-5 variants they're doing I think? 

I do agree the height seems a bit off though, last time I calculated it was about 20 inches tall.

And the given height is just shy of 19 inches, so a difference of roughly a trooper's legs. I don't really see the problem there, especially given the wonky scales in the original trilogy.

TB-TT is the French equivalence/translation for AT-AT.

On the pics you can see Disney and lucasfilms logo.

They also said this AT-AT version is based on the Empire strike back ones

So scaled at 1/47 ,

22.5 meters height become 47.8cm

20 meters lenght become 42.5cm

 

So. The misproportion is only for the lenght, and I suspect the model lenght got measured from front of the head to the back of the rear foot (this AT-AT is walking) while the "real" lenght is the measurement from front of head to body rear extremity (steady AT-AT)

That actually makes sense. It's a silly way of measuring the final result of a scale model, but it is the simplest way to account for the discrepancy.

And yeah the deAgostini Falcon was a big deal for a lot of people, but it ended up costing nearly a thousand pounds by the end of the run. Which is why partworks are a bit of a scam - you're not getting much more actual plastic than buying a model kit of the same scale straight-up in a shop, but by chucking a few pennies worth of paper in with each batch of parts and providing the "subscription experience" they end up charging you many, many times the price the eventual finished product would have cost if you had just bought one in a shop. That they typically pick popular models in scales people want said models in but presently have no legit option to buy adds a faint whiff of extortion to the whole affair.

I’ve done the last three DeAgostini builds - the Millennium Falcon, R2-D2 and the X-Wing. The Millennium Falcon in particular cost around £900 for sure, but the only comparable Falcon available is the Master Replicas version which is way, way more expensive.

It’s also worth pointing out that this AT-AT is a test run. Test runs usually last four of fives issues. If the product goes to full production it’s likely still 12-18 months away before the full run will start.

When i see this right, the first two issues are the cockpit. 
Even when the whole set is too expensive, these first two would be good enough for a nice piece of terrain.

That is why I bought them. Issue one contains one of the two main laser of the AT-AT (the ones below the cockpit) and some other nice pieces for one euro.

Also. The third issue contains LEDs and electronic to light the commands of the cockpit. But unfortunately it will be more expensive

Did anything ever come of this? I heard they usually print the first couple issues and gauge the response on whether to do the entire series, I'm guessing with the timing that it failed?
