bsmith23 696 Posted February 26 Canon and/or Legends-wise the Sith are following the Rule of Two at this point. Who would be the Lord and Apprentice during this time. Or even better, how many can we put in order between Bane and Sidious.

Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun 9,503 Posted February 26 In current Canon, the Sith can NOT make themselves directly known. But the Sith are not stagnant. They can gather information, probe the Jedi and Republic for apparent and hidden weaknesses, sow and ferment faction rivalry, and manipulate proxies to test the resolve the Jedi and Republic to seed discord in the Galaxy to ensure the time of the Sith will indeed return. 1 Voltron64 reacted to this

Not 100%. Tenebrous has been brought back into canon. Very true. While I don't expect the main characters to face any Sith directly, I do expect that we'll see them acting "behind the scenes", so to speak, manipulating the events "unseen", as the hidden masterminds. HappyDaze 10,108 Posted February 26 It depends on whether you accept that Bane's Sith are the only Sith. That statement may prove to only be mostly true. 2 SithArissa and Voltron64 reacted to this
emsquared 779 Posted February 26 There's some Dark Jedi stuff that goes on around this time period too, in Legends. Which is something that I would love to see acknowledged as existing in the new canon.

But, if they are careful much could still be done with the Sith. Imagine a behind the scenes protagonist. He/she could be manipulating through minions. They could have a front organization so the Jedi never realize who are behind the machinations. Heck, the Nihil could even be actual unknowing pawns of the Sith similar to the Trade Federation. The apprentice could even be rubbing shoulders with the main characters while secretly gathering information and manipulating things. You could even have someone discover the Sith. Then be quickly killed or mocked and not believed.
Donovan Morningfire 10,200 Posted February 28 So one potential path that could be taken, at least with the course of either a single novel or a trilogy, is to have multiple "factions" of self-professed Sith operating behind the scenes, and quite often working against the others as rivals to the "true" ideology of the Sith. Over a decade ago, I ran a campaign set around the time frame that the High Republic takes place in, with the PCs working in the service of a well-respected Republic senator (who served as a patron/mentor to the group) who found themselves routinely in conflict with the machinations of a wealthy antiquarian, whom they latter learned was a self-proclaimed Sith Lord, complete with apprentice that was a brutally effective combatant (and in retrospect is pretty close to Kylo Ren now that I think about it). Well, turns out the senator was also a self-proclaimed Sith Lord, following the "true" traditions of the Sith since their decimation at Ruusan, which was a shock to the party (especially as two of them were Jedi). Once the campaign had wrapped up and both Sith Lords were defeated, as a stinger I revealed they'd been played by a third party that was of the actual Darth Bane's "Rule of Two" Sith, who was playing the long game in eventual anticipation of a future apprentice putting the pieces in motion to usurp control of the Republic and destroy the Jedi Order in a few more centuries, telling her apprentice that they need only be patient and that victory would ultimately belong to the Sith, as the Jedi would become the instrument of their own downfall. So in this regard, you could have the Sith crop up, only for those Sith to be revealed to be pretenders to the mantle, being defeated and destroyed, all while the actual Sith Order (those following Darth Bane's Rule of Two) operate from the shadows. 1 Voltron64 reacted to this

LordBritish 1,016 Posted February 29 Well, Yoda had to figure out there was only two at some point somehow, can't exactly know that without having known them at some point in history. So I can imagine there being at least one conflict with the Sith at some point, with the Jedi having the impression that they had won. Thus cementing the hubris of the Jedi in the PT movies. Because they were found and defeated before and thus couldn't possibly believe that they had returned? I imagine they are spinning their wheels slowly though gaining the one thing that really matters for a master plan; money and position. I mean, save a pool of about a 1000 year succession and one probably has enough to buy the services of an entire army, I always thought that service was particularly expensive and way out of the budget range of one Jedi to order.
