BX Droid Card Leak

Ok I am confused over how some people think Immune: Deflect is worse than High Velocity keywords?

Surely being able to use a bigger pool while being immune to deflect is better than being limited to just 2R?
Fair enough if they sniper is shooting stuff at range 3 or less than it's not really a sniper but the BX droids feel like they are going to operate differently than the GCW counterparts.

If you use the normal unit, then Immune: Deflect is certainly better. If you use just the strike team, it's not.

That's why I say the Commando droids feel like they are going to be different from say Scout troopers. It's feeling like they are going to work better as a unit than as a strike team.

I think BXs will work great in both cases. They are flexible with plenty of build options (unlike ARCs).

maybe, I don't think I've seen enough of the Arcs to know if they have flexibility or not.

Most of the BX have been spoiled and they look great.  Hopefully the designers will be able to put this much planning and thought into all the future expansions.😁

Too soon to say on the ARCs I think. There’s a lot we don’t know about them yet. I do think the BX are going to be excellent in both modes.

I've made a chart comparing the snipers in the game. It seems BX are worse than all others unless you give them at least 1 Aim token - and go for Lethal instead of re-rolls (unless the enemy has Deflect or Impervious).

And when you give them an aim they become the best unit... and they’re more survivable than rebel or empire teams.

I assume most people are assuming firing with just the sniper rifle with range 4+shots. However that is a good point that, if you are firing the E-5 as well (strike team or full unit), Immune: Deflect is definitely better, seeing as it still works at that point.

Does the sniper rifle only add Immune Deflect when shooting, or universally? If the latter, a full squad with a sniper and vibroswords make pretty good Jedi hunters...

Only when using the sniper rifle, so it does not in melee

Well, it depends.

A 4-men, Vibroswords + Tenacity costs 78p. That's a a nice price.

If you add the Sniper, it goes to 108p... I'm less inclined to field them at such price.

At first I was really excited to do a Vibrosword build and run them as aggresive melee but now the idea of doing energy shields with a sniper for a tough, close fire support unit sounds rather interesting.

Without shields they will get laughed at with peirce.  A wolf pack following grevious maybe?

Either way the extra 30 or so points for the extra model is going to likely be a necessary evil....

Edit: scratches head..... wait a minute, the preview shot showed 7 models, does that mean  a heavy/chracter card is still Mia besides the mines?

They have Impervious, so they have some protection vs Pierce.

And yes, we don't know the Saboteur price/special rules. The pack can make a full 5-men unit (with either Sniper/Saboteur) and a full 2-men unit (with the other).

---

Hm, a unit with shields could be interesting as a Guardian for Grievous 2-pip or Esteemed Leader. OR should I stick to B1s for that?

The GCW specialists are also 7 models, they give you enough to field both a unit and a strike team.

Sab pricing was in the leaked card spread, but on my tablet I can't pick if it's 20 or 28 points

I think some people are missing this. The math says they are the strongest sniper with an aim (the only sniper that averages 2 kills with it) and the weakest without it.

Chances are you will have your aim if you can coordinate your troopers accordingly.

How do you average 2 kills from a 2-die sniper rifle with SS1?

1.66 (round up). You're more likely to get 2 kills with the BX than 1 kill. While you're more likely to get 1 kill than 2 with the other 3 snipers.

It looks like 28 to me, which also fits with the existing trend of saboteurs being 2 points cheaper than their corresponding snipers.

I still have my fingers crossed for 20. I'd really like saboteurs to be cheaper across the board as nobody is using them anyway.

I certainly wouldn't complain if they're 20 points. I have an idea for a Dooku list with three of them, as I think Scatter, Force Push, and You Disappoint Me could lead to some fun interactions with mines, so the being 8 points cheaper than I am anticipating would certainly free up a lot of room in the list.

Those 8s in the 18 cost Deflector Shields seem pretty different from that 20 that has a diagonal line going through it instead of in the middle of it...

🤷‍♂️ It looks like a horizontal line to me.

Hopefully we will find out for sure before too long.

He drew over the 30 though which we now know to be true. Compare the 20(8) to the known 30. It looks a lot more like the 30 than an 18 to me.

That's quite a rounding you did there... ;)
