Homing Missiles & Captain Jostero

the cap's wording:

After an enemy ship suffers damage, if it is not defending, you may perform a bonus attack against that ship.

 

the homing missiles wording:

Attack (TL): Spend 1[charge] . After you declare the defender, the defender may choose to suffer 1 [hit] damage. If it does, skip the Attack and Defense Dice steps and the attack is treated as hitting.

 

My question: Can the missile trigger jostero? Does the opponent sill count as defending, even if he chooses to take the hit?

The missile's target becomes the defender the moment you declare him as the target, so no, no matter which option the target chooses, the attack is still made and he's the defender for the entire resolution.

Homing Missiles cannot trigger Jostero. The damage happens after the enemy ship is declared the defender, Homing Missiles actually refers to it as "the defender", and the attack doesn't finish until after the damage has been suffered.

I tried it with Feedbackarray on Z's. But did not trigger alot.

im sure im forgetting a few more specific situations, i was just listing the more common ones that don't rely on YOUR effects causing the damage. Not that Nantex would necessarily tractor themselves onto a rock, but it was talked about before.

It's worth noting that Homing Missiles--even if the opponent skips the dice and takes the damage--still follows all the other rules for attacks.

The #4 Neutralize Results step happens, even though it's essentially irrelevant.  This allows Fifth Brother to add a crit, which will be dealt the #5 Deal Damage step, and the #6 Aftermath step will happen after this.
