P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted October 30 Sienna steps out of the shuttle, walking over to the trio. "Crash is one of the crew members, and is useful. As for the ship, if we replace the hyperdrive, will it be spaceworthy? How much would you charge to replace or repair the hyperdrive? That is all we really want." RuusMarev 2,697 Posted October 30 (edited) Look girly, this ain't one-a those high profile worlds, ya know? If I could find and order something that will work on someting dis old.. Empire scraped just 'bout ev'ry thing from th' Clone Wars.. Heck, even the Empire has trouble with supply lines out here, nothing is shiny no more. He scratched his head, almost embarrassed. Me an' Jorrie from the Field are even havin trouble sourcing decent specialty tools nowadays.. fer some reason not many traders come this way from th' Core. RuusMarev 2,697 Posted October 30 The man gave Sienna a slow look, clearly suspicious. An' you jus happen to be in th' area... he shifted his gaze toward the shuttle, curiosity seemingly winning over mistrust of newcomers.
P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted October 30 Sienna shrugs, "Well... you're a potential customer aren't you? Sounds like we picked a good place to try and sell our product."
RuusMarev 2,697 Posted October 30 hmmm... what've you got? he asked, hands fidgeting the seam of his overalls. Guessing you still want the scrap credits then? he glanced around the bay. Look, he said softly, Give me first look, then go see Jorrie down at th' Field, some times he snags ships from th' Empire when they auction off confiscated smuggler and pirate stuff.. P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted October 30 Sienna smiles politely, "Hang on while I discuss this with the rest of the crew, this could be an excellent opportunity..." She bounces back up into the shuttle, with Aleena close behind, and says, "Well, Cadena. He agrees with you on the name suggestion. He says he can't replace the hyperdrive, but he'll offer us five thousand for the ship and refer us to someone who can sell us a new- err... different ship, one purchased at auction from the Empire, who confiscated it from smugglers or pirates. I'm guessing that Gala's ship is at that field. Barda, he also expressed interest in the tools you brought along to sell."
Bellona 762 Posted October 30 Barda looked up from where she'd been peering at the visible hyperdrive machinery. "Excellent on finding a customer! Not so excellent that we probably have to replace the entire ship - that's a headache in the making right there" she said. "Shall I bring the tools out now?" P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted October 30 "I don't see why not..." Sienna says, glancing at the others. Cadena stands and stretches, accidentally banging her knuckles on the shuttle's roof. "We should conduct our business quickly so we can get on with the mission."
Bellona 762 Posted October 30 "Alright," Barda stood up and stretched over backwards to counter-act having spent the past ten minutes bending forward. She powered up the repulsor under the pallet and began to move it carefully towards the hatch and boarding ramp. "Hello, there!" she called to the mechanic waiting at the bottom of the ramp. "We've got four new specialty tools, plus a slightly used standard tool kit. The specialty tools are top-notch, guaranteed to improve your chances of getting the results which you want. There's a ... [insert mechanobabble here]." While Barda was busy explaining the specifications to the interested mechanic, Aleena whispered quietly to Sienna, "According to what Barda told me on the flight, we should be getting at least 440 credits per tool, and there are four of them. The tool kit would be 350 credits if it was brand new. I don't believe that the mechanic would be the best buyer for the crated trade goods, though." RuusMarev 2,697 Posted October 30 (edited) The mechanic listened intently as Barda explained the use of the new tools and the various other uses that they are equally capable of.. After she was finished with her sales pitch, the mechanic eagerly agreed to purchase the lot and ran to his office to retrieve his credits. In moments, he returned and followed by another man wearing an Imperial customs uniform. The uniform was a little snug around the middle, boots were scuffed and his hair was badly in need of a trim. As the mechanic sorted through his credits, the Imperial idly looked over the tools, occasionally nodding as if impressed. With a smile, the mechanic handed Barda a bundle of Imperial credits and what looked like local currency. There ya go, five thousand for the shuttle, aannd I'll pay you two thousand, seven hun'red and forty-three for the tool lot.. RuusMarev 2,697 Posted October 30 As the mechanic wheeled the pallet towards his office, the Customs agent approached. Those were very good quality.. He said, pulling out a datapad. Trade Permits?
P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted October 31 "Err... Trade permits. Yes, err... Hang on." Sienna scrambles into the shuttle and goes to Aleena, "Err... do we have trade permits?" Cadena sighs... "No, that makes things more complicated."
Bellona 762 Posted November 1 "Hmm," said Aleena. "I don't think that we do, and I don't have the ability - yet - to mind trick the customs agent."
P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted November 1 Sienna scrunches up her face, thinking. Her face brightens as she gets an idea, then she turns to Cadena. "How's this: you're in charge and you're the one who forgot to get us licensed. I'm just a simple employee with no knowledge of Imperial taxes and regulations. If he thinks I know we don't have trade permits, then he'll get suspicious since I said I was going to get them." "Me!?" Cadena is visibly confused by Sienna's suggestion. "Well if they lock you up, we won't have to smuggle you any weapons. You keep talking about how much of an advantage not being able to be disarmed is." "You can't be disarmed either, I should point out." "Yesss... but I already covered why I can't be the one to show up with no permit. Besides, if one of us is going to be tortured by the Imperials, I'd rather it be you." Sienna gives Cadena her bestest smile, grinning innocently. 2 Bellona and RuusMarev reacted to this
Bellona 762 Posted November 2 (edited) "Oh, errr," said Aleena to the Imperial customs agent with as much Force-enhanced persuasion as she could throw into her voice, "We're a bit behind in our paperwork, but we'll sorting it out soon. Surely there's no need to bother yourself with all that red tape right now?" Edited December 16 by Bellona Typo correction.
RuusMarev 2,697 Posted November 2 The Customs agent sniffed as he browsed his datapad. Four hundred credit penalty for conducting business without proper paperwork, you have a local day to file paperwork with Trade Administration with five hundred credit registration fee. Until then you will not be allowed to sell any goods.. The agent made a few notations to his pad, then glanced over the edge of his pad at Aleena. Business name, madam? 1 Bellona reacted to this

Bellona 762 Posted November 2 Aleena carefully picked through the various credit types with which the mechanic had paid, and chose four hundred credits in the local currency. P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted November 3 Once the customs inspector hustles off, Sienna follows Aleena out of the shuttle. "Now... I suppose we should get that license so we can palm those trade goods off on some poor sap. Well, preferably a rich sap who will pay us well. Then we can find lodging in town. I do not want to spend another night sleeping in that shuttle." Cadena steps out of the shuttle so she can stretch without accidentally punching the ceiling. Then she stretches. "I agree. I want nothing more to do with this ship, and especially not as sleeping quarters." Sheathipedes are short-range shuttles, meant for ferrying passengers from ship-to-surface, surface-to-ship, and surface-to-surface, and so do not actually have sleeping quarters. Given how the interior is arranged, I imagine sleeping in one is much less pleasant than even sleeping on a plane. I was stretching it a bit to narrate a refresher, but I figured it's both essential and something that could reasonably be crammed into the space available. It makes sense for the situation though, especially since its pilot is a droid and it likely wasn't really intended as a passenger transport, but pressed into service as one. 1 Bellona reacted to this
RuusMarev 2,697 Posted November 3 Crash pulled out a duffel bag and started packing everything he could. Various tools and the ration packs were the priorities, along with any piece of clothing that had been left behind by past occupants. When he was done, Crash moved to the hatch and looked back into the shuttle, something in his programming felt...bad for the dilapidated vessel, perhaps it had something to do with being from the same era as the ship and the realization that he might be one bad day from a similar fate. Crash let out a sigh and exited the ship. Crash slung the bag's strap across his shoulder and stepped to the group of women. uhh, ladies? If you could, sync your comms devices with me please.. He indicated the metal backpack shaped device that his blaster was attached to. My control relay pack has been extensively modified to act as a long range commlink so I can act as mission coordinator if needed.
P-47 Thunderbolt 4,177 Posted November 3 Cadena shoots Sienna a suspicious look of That sounds like a great idea... but complies with Crash's suggestion. Sienna smiles at the droid, "Thank you, Crash. That'll be very helpful. Good news is I found a hotel that'll take droids. While Crash and I secure us reservations, should some of the rest of you try and sell the other trade goods? I'm sure we can manage on our own." @Bellona, I figured it'd be good to get the two "groups" mixed up in order to foster greater interaction between players. The meaningfulness of this situation is dependent on how much we intend to do beyond the simple task of reserving hotel rooms and pawning off some trade goods. If we intend to do more, I'd suggest that you volunteer Barda to go with Sienna, including a suggestion of an additional task to be completed, and Cadena goes with Aleena (since Aleena is more competent to Negotiate).
