So, do any of us speak Jawa (Barda? She's mechanically inclined and has travelled before), or is their language one that is "understood but not spoken" by other residents of the GFFA?

Barda would be the logical choice.

I would say yes, based on all the canon depictions. (plus the Mandalorian, they were able to speak it as well..)

Aleena sweet talks the Jawas ...

She uses her Kill With Kindness 1 talent to remove the fear-related Setback, and adds +1 Boost from Barda (translation/unskilled assistance) and her FR (Influence upgrade) ...

"Tell me everyting, darlinks": Charm w. Force, unskilled assist., +/- Setlback: 1eP+2eA+1eB+2eF+2eD 2 successes, 3 threat, 1 Triumph, 4 Light Side

... I was about to use the Smooth Talker (Charm focus) talent to add another Success, but instead I think that I'll use that Triumph as per the RAW ...

Final Results (using 4 LS pips to add +4 Advantages): 2 Successes, 1 Advantage, 1 Triumph.

Both Jawas are affected (1 Advantage for the second Jawa), one will help Aleena for this scene and the next one (2 Successes), the other one becomes a recurring NPC who is now predisposed to assist Aleena in matters like secrets/better prices but not joining the crew (Triumph).

"Super-Helpful Jawa on Kiev" needs a name ...

 

(... I think that Barda is now trying to figure out how to adopt Aleena into her merchant family ....)

I was thinking of two going into the scrapyard for information/buying a replacement ship, and two going to investigate that rock outcropping which the Jawas pointed out to us.

Aleena to the scrapyard, Barda to the outcropping?
