Scum Hyperspace

Following the points changes I'm looking at two lists to try as a starting point.

The first is Kath with Fangs.  I've tried Kath with a couple of Star Vipers as blockers previously.  I think the Fangs are well priced.  They want range 1, they can boost or barrel roll into focus and the I1s Zealous Recruits should make excellent blockers.  Not totally sure on how to build Kath.  I'd love 0-0-0 for the chance of double modded range 1 shots.  Slave I seems like a steal though at 1 point and bombs feel like they should be good if we start seeing lots of swarms.

The second list I want to try centers on Dengar, with a MGT to coordinate extra actions.  I'm not sure Dengar needs all those upgrades but I can see everything coming in handy.  I could strip him right back but the idea is to be able to hit something very hard with Dengar (double mod'd proton torp shot) early on.

I'm interested in this concept as well.  I find it hard to gauge the exact value of a coordinating ship but double mods or unexpected re-positioning *feels* like it's good.  I'm wondering whether the Zealous Recruits will be where the value is on the Fangs.  I want M3-As to be good (I have six of them!), and with the points drop they might be.  Maybe four of those with Kath ...

This looks like a pretty cool list. Scum Jank at its best. I think that layout on Nom is pretty solid. jump5k's r now worth a look with the cannon slot and they cheap. I like ur addition of squad leader for red coordinate. extra action for a frontline ship is pretty sweet.

Honestly, biggest problem with the list is the initiative spread: 1, 1, 2, 3, 4.

I started with the Fenn +3 zealots that was already possible, and the price drop on the zealots allows Fenn to get Fearless and one of the generics to be swapped out for Nom. Nom adds durability and control, as well a being a big chunky blocker.

After flying this list against a Hyena swarm today, I don't think things are too terribly dire for Scum in Hyperspace.

Thinking of putting Daredevil on Fenn to fit Expert Handling on Dengar, but I'm sure that's a matter of taste.  The Ion M3-As are not optional though, they do an incredible amount of work.

Do you feel you really need the R5 on Dengar?

If you're choosing between Expert handling and the R5, it *seems* like EH might be slightly better.

I like the re-roll droid because it keeps his attacks just a tad meaner.  People are less likely to shoot down his throat if his bonus attack has some kind of mod.  Opponent chose to forgo attacking him twice in that game which feels like a good path to winning to me.

It's tough mentally to go with something that can result in self-harm, but I get why this is possibly a smart choice.  Some discussion locally about how to build Dengar and whether he might work out well super light, possibly just with autoblasters and that's it.

Also - I tried Kath/Maul/Slave I/Fearless + 4 x M3-As with autoblasters.  It was a bit underwhelming tbh.  I'm not sure how much that's to do with how I flew it.  I possibly got distracted trying to too hard to get the blocks for the extra dice.  Any which way, I was well beaten by Nien + Resistance A-wings (Tallie, L'ulo, Greer).

I might give it another go, learn how to fly it better!  Or I might try the Fangs or the Dengar list from the top of this thread next.  On that, I'm thinking I might try trimming Dengar to get the Skulls over the Zealous Recruits.  Something like this:

Has anyone revisited the 4 Fangs? 

Fenn: Fearless/Outmanuever/ (Adv protorps?)

3 x Zealous recruits. 3-9 point Bid or fill it up. Going to have a go tonight, 

Can swap one Zealous recruit to a Skull sq aswell 4 x Skulls with fearless as well of course.

I'm definitely leaning into 4 Fang atm.

Unconvinced APT is as good for Fenn as a bid. It's only one extra dice and obv comes with a lock requirement, which is a risky proposition against multiple firing arcs. 

Fearless Skulls may have a smaller range of bad match ups, but I'm only guessing at that. Init killing at I4 is going to be an incredibly useful bonus. Fearless and focus laughs in the face of variance, giving you nice guarantees on reducing return fire.

I sort of expect so, but it isn't as forgiving as might be expected.

I had a nice run with Boba, Swarm Terry and a Recruit a while ago. Having an I1 blocker that shoots at I5 and gives up fewer points is a really good tool. Add Terry to that and you've got a stronger, more flexible squad all round. 

However, while I found that version to be to be very decent, it was not quite level with the top tier lists at the time, which does make me wonder about this one. But with the state of Hyperspace now, it could do really well there. I think it depends on where the power level actually is, not entirely sure yet.

Personally, I like to bid for Slave 1, it's so strong. PerCo in for Maul would be my pick. You'll dodge a lot of other Bobas, I imagine.

Koshka is a stand-in budget Boba. Nom is a very cheap and chunky i1 blocker, that synergizes with Koshka, and Fenn is Fenn.

I like Outmaneuver on Fenn.  Fearless is always tempting but maybe encourages the wrong decisions on how to fly him.  If you wanted a bid could you drop Fearless on Koshka?  You've got a couple of ways to get double mods already.
