Rmcarrier1 627 Posted February 27 (edited) A couple of thoughts... 1. I’ve read the bulk of the new-Canon novels. They’re all... fine. Nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about. The YA books are actually some of the strongest. 2. I find Zahn’s books to be pretty middling; his absence here is not a problem in my mind. Let him write his Chiss prequel trilogy. 3. Being that this all-new Star Wars story appears to be novels and comics only (and not film or television), I’m hoping we might get some Official Visual Dictionaries or Incredible Cross-Sections to bring light to the era. 4. I’ll probably read most of these (I check out my Star Wars books from the library, so it’s risk-free), but make no mistake, until the next film comes out in 2022, I’m most anticipating Kenobi (yes, even more than Season 2 of the Mandalorian). 5. The concept is intriguing, I guess? I don’t see what’s “new, new, new” about it though. There’s going to be Jedi. Spaceships. The Republic. It seems like the Prequels, minus Palpatine. Mandalorian and Rogue One made me think we could have some adult-oriented media that my children could enjoy because it didn't treat everything as a commercial for toys, lunch boxes and tennis shoes. This one is for the 8-12 market, according to Disney's website. Their upcoming Into the Dark novel is listed as a YA book, and the Light of the Jedi is listed as an adult novel (though probably not in that way). Just because they are making this one book geared more towards a younger audiance doesnt mean everything from now on will be. And to be a Jedi knight at 15 honestly doesnt strike me as odd I mean how old is ashoka supposed to be in clone Wars? Well, from what Amazon tells me, the YA novel Into the Dark will actually be out before this one. It's slated for October, which is also when we're supposed to get season two of The Mandalorian, so hopefully that will tide you over. Barring unforeseen delays, of course. The main book Light of the Jedi as well as A Test of Courage to early January 2021, Into the Dark to early February 2021, and the two comic book series also to somewhen early next year.
