First Batch of Rebels

I finished painting my first batch of rebels for Star Wars Legion. They were a lot more work than the Stormtroopers, but the results came out nice. I painted all the base colors and then gave them a brown wash and that really brought out the details.

 

Here is the whole group, two squads, plus a walker-thingy, and some headquarters people and droids.

One problem with the figures is that some of the poses are rather memorable and to have the same one in squad after squad would look a little odd. The bald-headed alien is a perfect example. So for one of them I made a stylish bandanna out of tissue soaked in diluted white glue to make him look a bit different. For future squads I’m going to be doing some head swaps and other conversions.

 

The walker was pretty easy to do. Base color, wash, some dry brushing and a few details.

 

The walker comes with three different weapons options so I magnetized the mounts so I could do easy swaps.

 

Another batch of Imperials and another of Rebels and I’ll have enough to play a game!

Your rebels looks very great.

From bases to heads.

Only the weapons should have received a bit more attention in my opinion, especially the at-rt ones (like color on the flamethrower container etc...)

I had the same worries about "the squad will look all the same" question.

Thanks very much for the link. Those are some wonderful modifications you made! I had similar ideas, but nothing as ambitious as what you did! Well done!

It was not that hard to modify the minis.

The only one trick was to work on the backpack of the Walker driver. Because I made the job based on one Walker from my second core box. If you buy an extension box of the Walker. You will get a different driver. So, you will have only to work a bit on the legs.

For the minis on feet, if you cut out the arms/heads knob/pins you can easily adjust them to different body parts.

And no needs for sculting skills. Simply insert a small ball of greenstuff inside the holes of the bodies before you put in position the arms. Press. Then remove the excess of greenstuff. Let the greenstuff cure and simply add a drop of glue on it to make the assemblying more resistant.

 

But I think you are already aware of the methods. You did a great work for the bandana.
