ChongZi 0 Posted December 3, 2019 Now, I have a Crystallizer of Dreams around my neck and a Guardian of the Crystallizer in my threat area. If I play another copy of Crystallizer of Dreams, what will happen?
Allonym 954 Posted December 3, 2019 You take an attack of opportunity from the Guardian of the Crystalliser (unless you circumvent that in some way) and then shuffle a second copy of the Guardian of the Crystalliser into your deck. If you don't have Relic Hunter or a similar way to circumvent the slot limit, the old copy of the Crystalliser is discarded (along with all cards attached to it) as the new copy enters play. It's not clear what you're actually asking here - are you wondering what happens to the Guardian already in play if you shuffle a second copy into your deck or discard its host card? Nothing, due to the errata regarding slot limits, there's no point at which the text on the Guardian would trigger (which is probably an oversight, but eh). You need 1 copy of the Guardian in your bonded cards per copy of the Crystalliser so that should be fine. And if you run out of copies of the Guardian to put into play, you can't play the Crystalliser at all. Can you have several copies of the Bonded card in your bonded cards per copy of the host card? Rules are unclear. The Bonded keyword is a mess, rules-wise, but the situation described is pretty unambiguous.
vindoq 4 Posted December 3, 2019 I think the question was closer to: in the same situation, could you play another jewelery, like lucky cigaret case. Does that discard the Guardian before or after the attack of opportunity?
Iuchi Toshimo 230 Posted December 3, 2019 Well, unless you are using a Narrow Escape or similar, the Guardian of the Crystallizer is still engaged with you when you initiate the Play action, so it'll facepunch you. Then the new relic enters play. It is important that this is not a new version of the Crystallizer of Dreams because, simultaneously, the old Crystallizer of Dreams leaves play because there are not enough Relic slots. Then the forced reaction on the bad guy removes it from play since it can't find the host relic. Technically though, in the case of two Crystallizers, which I believe Allonym was expressing, since placing a new relic into play happens simultaneously with discarding the old relic, there was never an instance where the forced effect on the Guardian was triggered and if someone found a way to play a Crystallizer of Dreams over and over again, they would to asked to add a Guardian of the Crystallizer to their deck each time, despite most players only owning two copies of the card.
