KommanderKeldoth 3,141 Posted November 30, 2019 Im about to start in on painting my CIS droids. I know that Im going to use Sorastro's contrast paint guide for the B1's My question is how are ya'll doing Grievious and Droidekas? They have a ton of littke crevices and hard to reach spots. Im either going to: A) spray with Leadbelcher as a base, wash with nuln oil, and then paint on details like Grievious' armor and the Droideka's "bronze" plates Or B) spray them black and then drybrush a mixed metallic paint before doing other coloured details. Seems like it could take longer but maybe yield better looking results.
Gullwind 560 Posted December 1, 2019 I primed my Grievous with Amry Painter Skeleton Bone, then did all the mechanical parts in Vallejo Gunmetal. A drybrush of silver and some dark red and yellow on the eyes and he turned out pretty good. 1 KommanderKeldoth reacted to this
54NCH32 1,613 Posted December 1, 2019 For destroyers, I just did leadblecher, spray, gore grunta contrast (first time i used it, but perfect for coloured metal), then washed it with a 50/50 nuln oil / lahmian medium. Super quick and looks pretty good 1 KommanderKeldoth reacted to this
manoftomorrow010 1,119 Posted December 1, 2019 My Grievous I primed with Wraith Bone, then did all the mechanical parts German Grey+Gunmetal Grey, then did a mix of Tan Earth + Deck Tan for his armored bits. 1 KommanderKeldoth reacted to this
GreatMazinkaiser 1,335 Posted December 2, 2019 Grievous was Apothecary White and Gryph-Charger Grey over Heirloom White to mirror his Clone Wars appearance (despite being much tinier). 1 KommanderKeldoth reacted to this
Ralgon 1,005 Posted December 2, 2019 Easy as droideka that look almost movie accurate Base Spray leadbelcher, then nuln oil/ bassillicum grey wash. Paint the armor warplock bronze, then coat those sections with fleshtears red. Highlight to taste 1 KommanderKeldoth reacted to this
OuterPop 208 Posted December 3, 2019 For the Droidekas, I used a color-shift metallic paint from GreenStuffWorld called Nebulae Copper. It color shifts from a reddish/brown/orange in the highlight to a purple in the shadow. It does a great job of recreating that oily copper/purple shift on the edges of the outer skin. 2 54NCH32 and KommanderKeldoth reacted to this
