Scum help

Recommended Posts

I have some scums ships and wondered if i could make anything from them. Never played scum so i dont know what is really good or not

I have:

2x hwk 290

1x khiraxz fighter

1 x fang

1 x slave 1 ( could get my hand on a 2nd)

2 x starviper

2x y wing

I probably could get an ig 2000 too

The most established competitive options would be Boba Fett and Fenn Rau, or Torkil Mux and stuff.

Boba and Fenn are two really fun ships.  Possibly a bit scary with the low ship count, but these two don't hate getting into someone's face, and that's usually a lot more fun than flying around the edges, IMHO.  I mean, you do want to pick your right times to go in, but still.

  • Boba Fett will take, say, Slave One, Maul, some sort of bomb or mine (Proximity or Proton are probably best), and Fearless or Crack Shot.  Maybe Contraband Cybernetics or Hull or Shield Upgrade, depending on points available. Other than Jamming Beam, cannons probably aren't worth it.
  • Fenn Rau will take probably almost any talent.  Fearless, Outmaneuver, Lone Wolf, Predator, Crack Shot are all fine.
    • The bid might be large in this list, and that's fine.

Note: going Boba Fett and Koshka Frost as a two Firespray list is also pretty solid.  Pretty cool thread on the two Firespray list here:

If that's too much of an "all the eggs in one basket" sort of a list, maybe Boba with just Fearless or Crack Shot, Maul, and Slave One, then include 2 Crack Shot Black Sun Assassin Starvipers.  That's not really a meta list, but all the ships are kind of solid, and fun to play.  Starvipers are a blast.

Torkil Mux is also a great pick.  Start with him with Moldy Crow, then fill up with jousters. The meta-version of the list probably works best with either [Torkil, three Kihraxzes and Captain Seevor (Mining Guild TIE)] or [Torkil, the Kimogila pilot Torani Kulda (with Snap Shot), one Cartel Marauder, and Captain Jostero].  However, just throwing Torkil and a bunch of jousters together will work fine with a limited ship pool.

Go for any three of Kihraxz, Y-Wing, or Starviper.  There's going to be spare points, so upgrade to named pilots or higher generics, but it'd be best to keep them light.  Just like Crack Shot or Predator.

  • The Kihraxz is good (really nicely priced at 38 points for the cheap generic).  Graz and Talonbane aren't bad, but I'd keep them lean. 
  • Y-Wing can works.  Grab the turret of your choice and Veteran Turret Gunner.  I wouldn't use Drea, since you don't have the right ships to mass generics, but Kavil wouldn't be a terrible upgrade.
  • Starvipers are nice.  For this, keep them cheap.  Init 2, or maybe Init 3 with Crack Shot.

Something which would appeal to me and probably no one else would be:

  • Talonbane Cobra (Predator, maybe Afterburners)
  • Fenn Rau (Predator) or Guri (Predator)
  • Crymorrah Goon (Ion Cannon Turret)
  • Crymorrah Goon (Ion Cannon Turret)

Two aces, plus some beef/control in the Y-Wings.  Again, not really a meta list, but I think that sort of thing is fun.  Seems cool to have two potentially ionizing Turrets, to set up two ships which really can hammer folks at Range 1 with 5 dice attacks.

Fenn, Talonbane, and Guri would all fit together, too, if triple ace is your thing.  It'd be OK.

At very least, that's a bunch of Scum-spaghetti thrown on the wall, to see if anything sticks.

I would recommend just throwing some stuff on the table.  Most Scum flies just a little bit differently from each other and other factions.  See what grabs you.  Then practice that obsessively.

I love 'Vipers, but I'm not the pilot to fly an all-'Viper list.  Still looking for wingmates that scratch that itch.

I am currently playing variant of two firesprays, Boba fett and koshka frost. Its sucha fun type of list for me personally. There is room to personalize the list with upgrades. 

 

Boba Fett and two starvipers is also really fun. 

For example.

Total points: 199

Starvipers hit Hard, can be really hard to pin down and good blockera. A versatile chassis, and fun to play.

Play everything and figure out what you like. I'm personally a big fan of scum 4 ship lists.

Example with the ships you have you could field this:

this would be pretty solid and quite fun.  a few diff options for tactics. Teroch is a nice flanker who can strip tokens for kavil and fett to hit for decent amount of damage.

As you say, Fenn would like a bid.  Might be worth to swap to Crack Shot to get one.  I've often found that even a single point of bid matters; there's a lot of folks who just build to 200.

Ram with Goons, feedback / discharge combo. Drop bombs on the round after (that they'll hopefully fly right into, being ionized), while Emon cruises around dropping bomblets and cackling like a madman.

I haven't seen the following combination, so I thought I'd plop it down here.

I played a game with it last night and it did okay, if the definition of doing okay is your opponent driving a brand new VCX with low miles over an asteroid. ;)

I present the The 655:

Fenn w/ Crack shot (69)

Talonbane Cobra w/ Crack Shot, Afterburners (57)

Total (191)

It's got the potential to throw an obscene amount of dice at range one, and assuming it doesn't get spanked too hard to be able to take advantage of that, a game can go well. 

If any of the three get spanked hard, or even sent home..., then the rest of the game may not go very well.

But they're fun, and pack some serious punch.

And the bid can be made larger by getting rid of the three Crack Shots.

For those who like Outmaneuver on Fenn or Guri, you can use the following:

Fenn w/ Outmaneuver (74)

Guri w/ Outmaneuver (70)

Jostero w/ Afterburners, (using Cybernetics leaves a 5 point bid, not using Cybernetics leaves an 8 point bid).

655 looks fun. high risk high reward. fearless and inventive. my kind of scum :) i might give this a go.

In the Vein of the other 655 lists, I flew this for awhile (originally with Proton Torps on Kavil when those still fit)

No bid, no real shenanigans to speak of, just 200 pts of face punching goodness.

Fat Kavil is a points pinata. 72 points is enough for a slim Guri(Outmaneuver, or Predator and Collision Detector, or just Predator and bid).

Yes I would strip Talonbane of the afterburners and swap Kavil for Guri, Advance sensor and either Crack Shot, Pred, or Elusive. 

 

I was flying;

Black Sun Assassin, Crack shot 49

Had great fun with it, every round was seat of your pants style flying, played 2 small 10-20 people tourneys 3-1 at each so not bad.
