weebaer 124 Posted October 22, 2019 I need to clarify my comment earlier. I am actually hopeful that JJ can pull it off. I was very surprised how much I loved TFA despite the story repeat of New Hope. What makes them a troll is popping up to vent on a thread where folks are expressing their excitement about a new movie. There's space for both. Dark Don 91 Posted October 22, 2019 My standpoint is I have another movie, will I agree with it 100% (who knows). There have been others I have not seen eye-to-eye with how they were made. The main thing is I have another movie, a NEW Star Wars movie. When I go into the theater and sit down I'm going to be , for a couple hours, that guy who can feel the alien worlds, the pitch and roll of ships dodging blasts, the triumph of defeating an evil Empire, and the tingling of the force in my fingertips. I hope everyone finds something they will take home with them and make it theirs. If its going back to being a kid once more, obtaining that inspiration to paint those models, or enter a larger world for the first time and say "Chewie, were home." LunarSol 1,369 Posted October 22, 2019 I'll admit, the "always" got me. Looks good. I do fear its going to have the same time crunch created by VIII taking place immediately after VII the way it did. The ending of VIII left me wanting some time between it and IX for an oppressive new status quo to catch up on, but it feels like it will pivot pretty quickly into the finale. I'd rather not the whole trilogy take place over a weekend. Hoping they use the Emperor well. The bits of dialog here sound interesting but I fear JJ will mostly add "something, something Dark Side" over something meaningful to the idea. Snoke's use of mind reading and future sight to dominate Kylo in the last one is the first time I've really seen the Dark Side presented better than "angry and throws lightning". Saw the new trailer and thought okay, they shoved in as much nostalgia as possible, cause no one at Disney knows what actually to do with Star Wars. I mean, Remeber OG Star Destroyers? Remeber the Emperor? Remember Lando? Here, have it! and thats just the tip of the iceberg. Rey saying "Everyone knows me", how the actual f does anybody knows her? Resistance got obliterated in the last movie, and now they have this big *** fleet. They just took everything they thought SW fans like, put it in a stew and gave us this. And dont even bring up this stupid riding/running scene on the Star Destroyer surface... Just looks stupid. SW as far as movies go was dead to me after EP8 and i didnt think i would ever again care, but i care about this. Because this is even worse than i have imagined.
