Are there any expansions that aren’t worth buying?

Every ship has a place and would say they are all worth buying, some are lower priority though. Would wait on things like a Pelta, Assault Frigate Mk2 or a stand alone Victory Star Destroyer (though can be found stupidly cheap).

I agree with Spectre, even an Interdicitor and SSD can be lower-priority. You def. want ISD, MC80 to be more prioritized than say a stand alone Corvette.

Absolutely disagree on the Mk2 and Victory.

Both are still very viable workhorses that are multi-role. Harrow makes the Vic a beast.

pelta? Yeah, it can wait.

I find the lack of love for the VSD and AF baffling.  A topic for another post perhaps but I can hardly imagine building a fleet without them.  Now that Harrow is available the single biggest gripe about the VSD is gone.  The AF is a brilliant all-rounder, great with Garm, Ackbar and Leia.

Oh, I like the VSD and love Harrow, you just don’t generally need two of them when starting out. AF is fine, just nothing special in my opinion. It’s also ugly.

It certainly is that.  I am also put off using it because of its aborted-alien-head appearance..  That aside  I find both ships to be good all-rounders, and new players definitely need those.  The Victory pack also comes with some very useful cards.

Some ships you just want mutiples of because they are fun to play that way....cr90s and other fast small ships. Infact the only smalls that I,ve not really used in multiples or don’t suggest are the pelta ( it’s not cheap and slow for a small so not really seen beyond singles) and neb b which because of its key weakness needs other ships to cover its weakness....( although I did go through a faze of trying to get 5 nebs to work, then four nebs and a CR90b to cover the exposed flank ( I have to say the ability of a CR90b Rambo to really slow an enemy advance when you refuse a flank is underrated, people don’t like walking into their double arcs and double ram range with that ability to push consistently good damage)

Did say the Victory stand alone. You get one out of the starter and should be enough for a long time. Looking heavily at Harrow and do play Dominator on occasion but find my self only ever playing 1. As a new player would use the one out of the starter, but unless you're looking at getting a stand alone from amazon or something for 10 dollars, I'd wait on it.  The AFMK2 It depends on what you want. If you want to do an Akbar whaling fleet would prioritize them higher. I don't, I find most Ackbar fleets to be very predicable and too easily cut to pieces by some one who knows what they are doing. I also look at the Liberty and MC 75 both ships you can do a competent build right out of the box, both take up a lot of points so helps you fill out 400 quickly. Also look at something like a Dodonna drill as a very fun starter fleet to play. Simple and can be some what unpredictable, So I have a tenancy to rate the AFMK2 pretty low. I still only have 1 my self and generally only play it as a heavy carrier.  Ultimately though it is an opinion and do suggest play and prioritize as you want .

That is a good point. Once you have a large fleet, it’s easy to find a better ship than the Assault Frigate for any particular role. But if you only have a few ships, the AF’s versatility means it can fill in for lots of those “better” ones.

I think this is a personal decisions to some point. For example using me, I feel that every ship is worth getting one of for each title that there is for that ship class. With the exception of the AF Mk II as it is just so ugly I will not have a single one in my inventory.

I got a couple mk IIs in a lot anyways. I’ll probably but everything but just didn’t want to get anything if it was a total waste.

The best way to play Armada is to take something all other guys call a total waste and beat them with it! You'll be a legend!

(And it did happen more than once!)

I personally rate the assault frigate, it’s a good solid carrier with perfect carrier characteristics. Good speed ( for escaping), good all round defence tokens, good shields, firepower is on the side so you can evade and shoot, red dice for long range. It’s an all round good carrier for a reasonable price.

I kinda like big ugly ships so the AFII has a special place in my heart. The nebulon single expansion isn't that great (although it comes with XI-7s) I also think the liberty is optional compared to the other rebel capital ships. To start with you'll get more mileage out of Home One and Profundity, both in terms of upgrade cards and the utility of the ships themselves.
