Do you think we'll be getting Republic Commandos?

Recommended Posts

I think the title says it well enough that I don't need to restate myself, but... I will anyway. Do you guys think we'll be getting Republic Commandos as a Spec Forces team? I doubt we'll be getting Omega or Delta Squad, but it would be cool if we did. Now I fully expect you guys to paint them in such fashion(though some of you will make them stark or custom... or maybe squads from the old {2002?} Clone Wars).

What do you guys think? I think they'd be pretty good with their configurations/Shields/the repulsor blast that Battlefront two has given them.

I was just typing out a similar reply to doc's when the page refreshes. I'd bet my entire legion collection Arc troopers will be released before the commandos. I'd like to see clone commandos be in an operative slot. We don't have an operative SQUAD yet.. I think that'd be cool. Arc troopers should just be a special forces squad in my opinion. I think they'll be the first SF option. I predict commando droids will be first SF for separatists.

I'd be shocked if they weren't in the game eventually.  Besides their appearance in BFII(2), Delta Squad was in the Clone Wars show, and Gregor was a commando.  I doubt they'll include a named team in the game, probably just generics, which leaves it open to paint them as Delta, Omega, or whatever squad you want.

I'd rather they come into the game as SF than ARCs, because ARCs are supposed to primarily operate individually or in pairs, which lends itself better to Operatives.  (specialist missions aside)

I'm hoping we get ARC troopers as operatives as we only see them operate in large teams twice, Hypori and Mullinist, and neither is canon.  Commandos, on the other hand, are tailor made for high end SF.  Three-mode main weapon, four man team, and lots of lore.  For other SF I'd expect Senate Guards, not sure if they'll be in armor or robes, and maybe a different version of Wookies.

I don't know too much about legion(as I'm waiting till I can scrape some cash to get the clone wars core set) but I was thinking their stats would be along the lines of this(tell me if this is unlikely or OP)

Base Stats

Rank: 4

Wound:2
Courage:2
Defense:??(I don't know the difference between the dice in this game) Surge to defend
Weapons:
Melee Knuckle-plate Vibro-Blade Dice: 2 ??
Range 1-3 DC-17m Dice: 3 ??
Surge to attack

Abilities

Shielded 2
(You have 2 shield tokens)

Generator
(During the End Phase, flip 1 inactive shield token.)

Reconfigure
(At the start of the round, choose one of the DC-17m Configuration cards, apply the effects listed when you attack with the DC-17m.)

(I can't think of any other main abilities, what do you think?)

Configurations

Sniper
Extend range to 1-5

your attack pool consists of 2 red(?) attack dice.

Pierce 1(??)

Sharpshooter 1

Anti-Armor

Shorten your range to 1-2

your attack pool consists of 2(?) red dice

Impact 1

Pierce 1

Possible Upgrades

Grenade

Comms

Gear

Training

Armament(?)

Upgrade

Repulsor Blast(armament?? or does that replace something, should it be gear?)

<action>select an enemy non-vehicle and non-emplacement unit and make a partial speed one move(can someone word this so it can also push enemy units off of terrain and stuff so they can fall? I know that force push can't do that I want this to be like a mini/slightly less powerful force push like in Bf2. Help me rule masters)

Tell me what you think, do you thin this is likely, do you think this is unlikely, do you think it's overpowered or underpowered? Please tell me.

I would be shocked if we did not get any sometime next year. Based off of everything we got before the Clone Wars release we will get 5 commanders, 2-3 operatives, 3 troopers, 3 special forces, 3 supports, and 2 heavies.

So my money is on either the ARC troopers or Republic Commandos making it in sooner rather then later. They may reuse the Wookies and have to throw in snipers soooooo maybe not both will make it in, but the commandos have a very similar ability to the rebel pathfinders weapon swap (and FFG has shown that they really like to have similar units in Legion).

I'm curious if we will get Clone commandos as a squad, or as a single person operative.

As the only canon example of a commando is Gregor, do we know if the operate as a team?  Either as a team or a single mini, the armament upgrade adds a lot of versatility to them.
Arguments could be made for both squad and single.

Gregor is not the only canon example, and all known canon examples have a team. Delta Squad shows up in "Witches of the Mist" at the beginning, and "Bad Batch" is canon despite only the unfinished episode being shown so far. Bad Batch is supposed to be included in the upcoming season after being completed. Gregor was the captain of Foxtrot group, an "elite squad of Clone Commandos." The only reason Gregor is by himself is due to extenuating circumstances, not because he's on a mission.

Arc troopers on the other hand seem to primarily be deployed individually, but sometimes attached to squads.

They could introduce a new unit and mechanic too.

Airborne Clone Trooper (2nd Airborne Company). Like pathfinders, no personnel slot. Instead of Infiltrate they get Airborne. Which would literally do what the Rapid Reinforcements Card does. But instead of you place turn 2, you can drop it at any turn.

Same rules apply, outside range 2.

That would be a cool SF unit.

Heavy slots can be a leader unit and a DC17 or shotgun unit or MPL type unit.

For you CIS people out there, the clankers can have an SF unit that clones cant have...that I cant think of right now...

Fair enough.   It has been a really long time since I've seen those episodes.  Something I hope to rectify when Disney+ launches.
thanks for the correction.

I haven’t played battlefront, but I hope the next unit clones get is special forces.

I really would like an answer to sabs/snipers, especially if they have red defense dice.😁

No worries, I had an inkling that Delta was canon for some reason, so I double checked on Wookiepedia. 😛

I'm looking forward to the completion of the "last" season of Clone Wars with properly animated versions of the unfinished, unaired, yet canon episodes. And having something appropriate to watch while painting minis.

All I remember from the unfinished episodes was a pre-vis of the Boba Fett and Cad Bane showdown - That I want to see.

Clone Paras would make for a very interesting unit, though they should be completely different than Clone Commandos.  I'd love for them to get "infiltrate/Airborne" whatever, and be able to take an action on deployment, be that move, dodge, attack, etc.  Would make them killer for the Rapid Reinforcements role.  The down side to that would be that they'd have to be expensive, and a DC-15 would be the upper limit of what they should have in terms of a heavy weapon.  (and that just because we see them with it in Ep. III)

The group I hope they include is Clone Force 99, AKA The Bad Batch. They will be in the new season of Clone Wars.
