Boom Owl 13,254 Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) How much does the team factor 1v1 moving first counterplay options into the design process for a new ship? Are mobile high init ships intended to be vulnerable to core in game tactics? As an example if I am moving first with 1 ship against another ship moving after me these are my typical options: Blocking (Denies mods and shots sets up locks for future attacks to hit harder). Landing "close" to them or physically blocking them to open up a favorable k-turn option next turn. Pressure them to take stress from repositions and k turns (Gives more clues next turn on dial options, typically forces them to make a choice between mods, mobility, and next turns dial.) Use of Rocks and Obstacles ( prevent dial options and reposition choices ). Engaging near obstacles can make the opponents ship more predictable. Critical when moving first. Why are force charges available to spend or recharge while stressed, blocked, or having moved through/on to obstacles? 2. Are there general concerns about Rear or Mobile Arc ships having access to white boost or re-position actions? 3. When designing Sun Fac/other Nantex with ensnare, what counterplay options did you find existed outside of list building? Like Ahsoka Tano in the A-wing, Ezra in the A-wing, Hera in the A, B or Y? I know I'm not the only one that wants to see characters from the books and shows piloting different ships. Can we look forward to regular releases of epic ships? New ships like the Nebulon B, Assault Frigate or Hammerhead corvette? Love what you are doing with 2.0, keep it up! Questions: - Are the upcoming obstacle from the pack different from the currently available one? Asteroids? Gas clouds? - Any plans for a hotac-style expansion? Something that brings more RPG-like elements into the game? Like a talent tree? (hint: your boss loves D&D 😎) - Any plans to have current pilots in different ships or in different "life-stages", like a Jedi Knight Luke, a young Wedge Antilles, etc? - Any plans for scenery, like an armed satelite? Either as scenario or as a regular item for your list? - Any plans for thematic-oriented squad building option? Something that limits how you can build your list but gives it a benefit of sorts? Theme ideas: Black Sun lists, Rebel Trench Run or Battle of Scarif, Republic Defense of Coruscant, etc. - Aren't you afraid that the Force and Force upgrades are becoming too powerful and prevalent? - How will you resist the temptation of making the game more competitive-oriented and thus more and more rules-heavy? The past couple of waves have been a step in the wrong direction if you want to keep the game friendly for casual players. Then you created an invite system, the community then criticized it and wanted a Last Chance Qualifier tournament. Again, you delivered and gave us what the community wanted. However, you still receive criticism (locals have unfair advantage, etc). This type of stuff must be frustrating because there’s other examples as well. Do you ever feel this frustration? I personally have mixed opinions but I was genuinely surprised when running over them didn't incorporate a penalty of any sort. Everyone is asking more important questions, and I don't normally do this, but it would mean a lot to me to get some peace of mind on whether or not it's worth continuing to hope for this ship. I know FFG can't confirm whether it will happen for obvious reasons, but if it's outright disqualified because of something like a size issue, that should be answerable. In fact the most usage the illicit slot has seen has been in Rebels (and soon to be Resistance). What was the theory behind what illicit upgrades to bring into 2.0? Most of these upgrades have an extremely high cost to them, if not in points, then in charges and opportunity usage (most currently have all of the above).
