New edition of Errata/FAQ

Recommended Posts

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2019/9/25/the-changing-seasons/

The pre-req skip now doesn't include Clan restrictions, a margin note about improvised weapons, Moto Avengers do get horses, and Kisshoten is a real Great Fortune, we swear, among some others.

Also I guess we all asked about Matsu Berserkers enough it got added to the FAQ.

Unimpressed. Obviously.

Not worth a news entry lol. And knowing that the game seems to be in the hand of a designer who absolutely didn't impress me while running the game does not reassure.

Seriously... It was not offensive. It was a consumer opinion like you find on every restaurant google review.

This will be my last comment on this thread: I will leave the last word to you. You posted a message that had no content or value other than sneering at someone for making a post that you claimed had no value. Then you insulted them personally. If you can't tell that your posting was deliberately offensive then I feel sorry for you and anyone who has to deal with you on a regular basis.

No need to feel sorry, at least for me. Had a blast while on trip across Japan and Korea with my wife and kid, I just couldn't resist keeping up with my snarky remarks while wifi was available.

Nothing personal. And if I've hurt your feelings (or anybody else) with my love/hate relationship with that game, or the way it is being handled (or not handled), I am sorry. I come from a video game background, and as a dev, I can tell you my "offensive" comments here are really not "that bad" compared to what we deal with daily! That is how it goes, gotta have a bit of thick skin... The consumer is always right ;) and we find pride in the relationship we have with them, and are always striving to do our best. If all comments were positive, it also wouldn't be healthy. The game needs its villain.

The lcg is actually getting bombarded much more... And you can tell the devs are hard at work in always improving. I just don't feel it is the case with the rpg, especially in light of the latest errata.

Last word;

❤️

This isn't a Google restaurant review forum. While I agree with your opinion that the news item wasn't as exhaustive as I might have expected, your personal insults have no place here.

Then it is like a movie review saying the actor or director was bad?

Ryan Johnson on the Last Jedi for example?

This is entertainment business... Why are game designers (for board games) in a different category? It isn't like I said any personal insult unrelated to the work itself... "absolutely unimpressed by how the designer ran the game on live", isn't personal insult, at all.

If such professional criticism (only an opinion from a nobody like me also) cannot be taken, then one should not put their name on the credit of anything or do live performances... High risks, high reward.

❤️

... is a personal insult. The difference being that a game designer isn't a professional actor as you seem to expect. This also isn't about having different standards, it's about critiquing appropriately and constructively without resorting to personal insult. As a video game developer, are you in charge of social media marketing and PR?

If you wish to change opinions, please elaborate on what "being unimpressed with the designer" means to you in no uncertain or vague terms so that others won't possibly misconstrue them as personal insult.

You've called this game "trash" in almost every thread, and I'm not alone in thinking this was a line too far. It's clear you have issues with L5Rs game design, perhaps you should play a different edition if you have trouble extracting yourself from the setting you claim to enjoy.

I have had Avatar on mute for a while, since I came to the conclusion that their and my views of the game were so divergent that we couldn't actually discuss anything worthwhile with each other.  I recommend this approach.

We might not agree, but if he thinks the designers are being worthy of praise for their incredible work... that is an opinion as legit as mine.

Muting me is also totally fair if you do not want to be part of the "demand better work from the devs" opinion. Maybe next time the errata will be even more irrelevant.

Everyone is entitled to voice their opinions on the game, and I have no problem ignoring wildly differing and superfluous comments (eg. promoting one's houserules ad nauseum) that have nothing to do with my interests. That said, nobody is entitled to insult someone because they didn't measure up to some arbitrary standard, during some live demo no less. Your arrogance detracts from some of your otherwise valid points.

In my previous post I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and invited you to explain how your comment about "a designer who absolutely didn't impress me" was a critique about the game rather than a personal insult, but I'm not convinced that you're capable of seeing your comments from a different perspective.

Watch out, maybe a maho tsukai will come out of the shadow and hit you with a chair! Very potent weapon in feudal japan. Especially good while wielded by blood magicians.

Wait, I don't remember how deadliness and critical hits work.

A broken chair leg. Yup, that is what I need! More deadliness.

Ain't personal insult. Just facepalm when someone had one shot to show the game. And that is just on top of my head. Should I lower my standard? Maybe, I'll give you that.

  • Glad to see a specific statement on how prerequisites work.
  • Moto Avengers did deserve a horse given that their own page artwork shows them riding one.
  • It does make Matsu a touch better - if you're 'only just' incapacitated, you might well un-incapactitate yourself, and it certainly makes spending void not to defend more attractive for as long as your void points hold out (although, obviously, as a Matsu Lion your void ring is not likely to be your best.....)
  • Also, the +5 status with Emerald Magistrate is good, as a minor clan Emerald Magistrate may be a rarity but they're still an Emerald Magistrate.

  • Okay - what am I missing? A 'chair leg' would be the same as a 'chair' - both are 'blunt' not 'sharp' improvised weapons. So the starting point is damage 5, deadliness 2. Which drops to damage 4, deadliness 1 (making it better than your bare hands for incapacitating someone by beating them unconscious but pretty useless for actually inflicting meaningful permanent damage without doing so first), unless I decide that's still too good and invoke the recommendation to reduce it still further. Which I'm more likely to do for just the leg....
