RodChester 0 Posted October 14, 2019 Do the cards made at Arkham Nights ever show up in future releases or are they only available at the events?

They do but it takes a while and they may be slightly different when they are official due to balance adjustments. 1 Mimi61 reacted to this

The 2017 ones released in The Circle Undone. Matt said the ones we made last year will be coming out "soon." 1 Mimi61 reacted to this
MGlas1 28 Posted October 14, 2019 This year's Arkham Nights was one of my favorites. I believe I have been to the last 5 or 6 of them. The swag was a little disappointing, compared to last year's event, however the ticket price was a lot lower this year than last. My group did the Blob event twice (and lost both times). Each time the blob had over 700 HP. The last time we were down to less than 30 HP when we ran out of time and the blob ate everything. It is a great stand-alone, and we all really enjoyed it. They also had advance copies of Murder at the Excelsior Hotel. I have my copy preordered (gotta get those art cards!), so I didn't pick up a copy, however my buddy did and we played his. I gotta say, it is probably my favorite of the stand-alones. There is also a pretty great method of randomizing it, so it is likely to be a different story, with different goals, enemies, and "boss" the next time you play it. I think it took us 2.5 hours to get through, so not excessively long. To play it mid-campaign, each player needs to spend 3 XP. I think we ended the campaign with 8 XP, so a net outcome of 5 XP. There are some items (and weaknesses) that you can add to your deck upon completion (or failure). Our playthrough netted up an ally, which was a very nice ally to add to a campaign, but not sure it is worth the weakness that could be assigned. He was no Lita... We also played the new/exclusive AH:3E scenario, Gates from Beyond, with Richard Launius, who designed AH:1E (and was very much involved in 2E). I loved this scenario. It had a bit of a different mechanic to it, and some new concepts. Looking forward to getting it if/when it hits retail. 4 1 Soakman, KBlumhardt, phillos and 2 others reacted to this

I'm hoping they can figure out some way to do a retail release... maybe by packaging the additional cards with the playmat Richard had made (since the scenario uses all of the locations, it couldn't be played with a single copy of the base game otherwise). 1 Mimi61 reacted to this
Mimi61 456 Posted October 14, 2019 It sounds like it was so much fun!! How do you think the Blob will play with fewer people? We did Labyrinths with a small group and were a little underwhelmed. 1 Soakman reacted to this

It's probably better with a single group, as you're not dependent on when the group chooses/is able to advance or decides to use countermeasures. Mimi61 456 Posted October 14, 2019 (edited) Oh yeah, you got it at GenCon right? It sounds like so much fun. I love the whole crazy idea of it. Sounds like a good time was had by all! Hopefully next year for us. 🤞🏻 17 minutes ago, Duciris said: Blob's really fun with a normal sized group. I actually think Blob would be more manageable in a smaller group. Our group of four kept track of how much damage we did to the blob, and we certainly held our own with clue-getting, damage, and the other things that need to be done (no spoilers). It would be just as fun in a small group for sure. 1 Mimi61 reacted to this

Later, we started hording clues (not passing them off to the larger group). The Blob ate his hand. We were about done with the dynamite (first Story asset), when they advanced us to the next one. I was dead (not eaten) around the time they jumped the third one. Edited October 14, 2019 by Duciris

We started doing this with the... what were they called? Emergency Resources or whatever they were. We kept watching the group numbers drop quickly. We decided that we would hoard ours and used tokens to record how many "we" had. We only used one of the group ones, and that was when there were 45 seconds left and we still had 40ish HP left on it. I used one to deal it some damage.

For us, our number one damage dealer couldn't do better than a machete and the other groups were bent on forwarding as many clues as they could. It wasn't necessary, so we aimed for a stalling tactic that didn't pay dividends.

cgvenuti 5 Posted October 14, 2019 My group played the Blob Friday night. HP was over 1500 at that event, certainly the largest of the weekend. Our group held our own, and probably did more than our fair share of clues and damage. The entire group was able to kill the Blob before the time ran out! It was a blast. I think the more the merrier with this, but it would still be fun even with a small group. 1 Mimi61 reacted to this
