Any word on CW release yet?

I am also curious about this because I got a different vibe from the whole thing. Battlefront II is probably a better game because of the backlash and all the removal of all the pay to win. As for more titles I would say that Disney giving EA the sole ability to make games may be their greatest failing with the Star Wars franchise. Say what you want about the movies, comics, and books but at least they have some for people to hate/love. Lets just hope that the backhand either got Disney and/or EA to pump out some titles...........

BFII (new one) is the best Star wars shooter game out there. A lot of the hate was due to a misinformation campaign spread about the progression system. It was very easy to label it as "Pay2Win" due to the when that just wasn't the case (lots of videos and data to prove this). This caused a huge decrease in sales.

It's unlikely that they come out with BFIII, but I think they've at least learned from their mistake.

I thought you were working your way to another ban in the first half not gonna lie

Eh, it’s not like I try. Sometimes I just get a little vivid with my imagery. What can I say? I lack virtue.

The last few years of FFG straight ignoring a 2-3 thousand dollar investment has made me a little bitter. Lol

That said, making a smurf account sucks, so I’m on my bestest for a while.

I actually took up this stance when the whole controversy took off. The only thing I don’t like about BFII as it is, is the engine. It’s built similar to the battlefield games and it feel outright clunky at times. Solid game though, good to have a decent tie fighter sim.

I felt like the game needed more content at release. Instant action + coop play was most needed.

The progression system did suck. Only game I've ever played that required players to "purchase" their rank through their in-game credit system. It just felt really awkward. However, it wasn't pay2win like people claimed.

Agreed. I thought it was weird, I preordered and got it a day earlier, I crunched our the story by the release date and bought Vader immediately. I had no shortage of credits just playing the solo missions. Things changed fast though. I remember that lol

It doesn't have to make sense to you, but it's happening and way more than people anticipated.

I assume it's a combination of loss of interest (hype is at it's lowest right now. We've waited several months since announcement. They then showed off the factions at Gencon. I don't think we've seen any CW related content in over a month), frustration due to delayed release (maybe they've decided that it's just not worth the hassle. Or maybe they expect future releases to be disorganized, so they don't want to bother with getting a game where they won't expect future units 6-7 months down the line).

Finances could be another issue. Maybe they only have a certain amount of money dedicated to their hobbies (It's how I limit myself from spending on hobbies). I make sure to only spend that amount of money a year. Maybe they became disinterested due to this release, and they want to purchase another hobby.

don't recall saying it had too.... *shrug*

For me its a combination of things: mostly it's a budget thing, and time investment.  I want a table top game, and CW was looking like it would be coming at a good time for me to pick it up.  And had it been on time I would have.  But the delay meant it would cost me more (LGS was closing, and taking it's sweet discount with it), the local playgroup was moving further away (another casualty of the LGS closing), and the delay gave me more time to think about the 2 times I've tried to get into X-Wing, and failed.  I love Star Wars, and I enjoy playing FFG's games, but their marketing approach which really requires you to purchase things you maybe don't want just to make the things you already have better doesn't sit well with me or my wallet.  Put all that together and my budget allocated to Legion went elsewhere.

Exactly. I find it comical that some posters claim that this delay wouldn't affect FFG sales.

It's very clear how wrong they are...

Yup, I’m in that group too. Need to see some proof of existence at this point.

Agreed. Honestly, it's not that I think they're purposefully lying, just that this release has been so plagued with delays I wouldn't be incredibly surprised if some new issue crops up.

I fully believe they INTEND for October 18th to be the release date at this point, but they also intended for October 4th to be the release date after the first delay(s).

I mean, immediate sales VS sales over time?

The things that drew people to the CW set are still gonna be there once the game is out and starts getting regular releases... I would say even more so once there are more units. It's not like there's anything wrong with the product here, it's just late hitting the shelves.

I suspect the overall loss isn't going to be that great, if any. Especially once it actually starts hitting the tables and people starting seeing these sweet tanks and stuff.

It's important to consider too the quality of the buyer. If people are dissuaded to purchase into the game because of a 3 week delay, it's unlikely those people would make it through the time it takes to flush out these factions. If we look back to the initial craze of legion when it launched, and then to how many people lost interest due to a lack of variety even while FFG was pumping out expansions faster than anything else, it seems likely that the CW brand will have the same dropoff initally. There's a chance that the accidental delay may even increase sales over time, due to the fact that those who opted out at launch may buy in once the factions are flushed enough to get them hooked.

I'm one such case for that. I didn't buy into Legion when it came out. The factions were too bland. I bought in around the release of Ole Papa Palpatine. By then there was enough variety to really hook me. Now I'm heavily invested in 2 factions. Soon to be 4... (I'll also add the observation I made as an Admin to one of the largest facebook B/S/T groups. A lot of people lost interest early on. A ton of core kits on the market at that time...)

Just some food for thought. I agree it will effect their sales, as delays always do, but I doubt it will be anything meaningful given time.

Not so sure about that... by all accounts Borderlands 3 is doing fine despite its current Epic exclusivity (to draw a bit of a comparison). A bit of delay for a hot product like Legion isn't likely to be more than a blip on the sales radar.

Define “blip”.  1%? 2%?  With Disney slurping up its cut, the product’s margin may not be all that high.  I’d expect a price hike down the line to cover the short fall.

Personally I’m curious what the over/under is on them missing Oct 18 and selecting a fifth release date.  Might bet a buddy for fun.

I have a bad feeling about this..😀 Unless we actually get a release date announced from Matt Holland  - who promised us that he would get back to us as soon as a release date was set in stone and/or an official news article announcing the release date as they with the original core set some 14 days ahead of the equally delayed release - then I have a little faith in the announced october 18th release date...

Matt confirmed the date shortly after the AMA.  After the problems with the October 4th release date, he was understandably skeptical about making the big announcement.
