Could we get the Mandator IV Class Dreadnought?

Recommended Posts

Well, the Mandatory is 8km. So we’ve established that you can make a model that size in game. Only problem is that it’s also 4km wide. That is a lot of overhang.

Or pull a STAW and release it an an objective “token”

They'll do the Resurgent long before the Mandator.

Still...both are a bit unlikely with the Clone Wars content coming out and a few ships from the Galactic Civil War era still missing. Plus the Sequel Trilogy merch supposedly doesn’t do as well with collectors in part because of the Last Jedi nonsense (nonsense as in the campaign against it, I actually liked the movie.)

Never say never though. FFG devs straight up said they would’nt do prequel content because they’re old guard fans. Now that’s almost exclusively what we’ll be getting for a few years.

I think before the death of Armada, we'll see a Mandator IV.

It may be one of those things that comes on the crest of the wave of 2.0 content, but I'd say it's possible via the Onager and SSD.

I'm really looking forward to running a First Order fleet, I just hope we have some more smaller ships to fill out the battle group. At least Old Empire stuff can be used, since we know Raiders were used by the F.O (per X-Wing 2.0).

My guess (assuming the game remains healthy and product development continues into the foreseeable future) is that each era (Republic, Rebellion, Resistance) could get one Huge ship:

  1. Subjugator-class
  2. Executor-class
  3. Mandator IV-class

Totally agree except Subjugator Class. I rather see the Lucrehulk as a huge ship for Republic era - maybe with 2 large bases side by side...?!?

Not that easy due to the little plastic lip on the sides of the bases

[Note: will be using new Disney coined marketing terms for the movies because calling everything the Sequel Era is meh to me.]

Its a strange subject because (from what I understand from recent market research) like normal the vocal minority hate the Resistance era, the other minority love it, and the majority are indifferent (I cant quote specific studies or anything like that, I was discussing it with my offices marketing dude recently and he knows all that. I just browse websites and get a feel).

I liked a majority if The Last Jedi, though there are parts I would change. I would have included the cut scenes where Finn fixes uniforms and does those things. But for the most part I heavily enjoyed the movie and it stuck with me. So, eh. I also liked The Force Awakens and Halo 4, so maybe its me.

That being said. I dont think we will see Armada Resistance Era ships. Not because of size or anything like that. The Rebellion Era ships had fans that loved them with disposable income. The age bracket for people who grew up with Republic Era content is at its high and now have disposable income (I am a memeber of this group)

Resistance Era... thats going to take another 10-15 years before that target audience gets there. Thats the only real reason it wont happen right away. XWING is different. You maybe need 4 fighters to play, so its FAR cheaper on the target audience (10-16 yo) with a short enough play time for their respective timeframe as well.

Its all marketing.

I feel that the Resistance era would be super easy for FFG to release in a single wave.

First Order

     -Resurgent Class

-Pack of cardboard to upgrade Imperial ships with First Order retrofit specs

Resistance

     -Raddus

-Pack of cardboard to upgrade Rebel ships with Resistance retrofit specs

Both

-Squadron Pack with 2 First Order Squadron types and 2 Resistance Squadron types.

———————————

If it proved popular they could release more but that’s basically all you need for The Resistance Era and it would give us the two ships most people want from the new movies.

Isn't the Onager class from The Rise of Skywalker?

I heard the red blast hitting the planet surface is from the Onager.

Then again I heard it's The Emperor's ship so still Imperial really.

I mean;

FIRST ORDER:

-Resurgent-Class (Large)
-Maxima-A(?) (Small)
-Mandator IV (Huge)

RESISTANCE:

-MC85 Star Cruiser
-Nebulon-C Escort Frigate
-Vakbeor Cargo Frigate
-Free Virgillia Ckass Corvette

That's out of the first two movies alone, certainly 2-3 new ship's waves' worth of material depending on how far into the extended canon they want to go (The Onager was crafted entirely out of one image in one book. The Maxima-A not only has a name, but several depictions, making it FAIR GAME if FFG wanted to do one).

In fact I'd almost wager the Resistance era has just as many ship classes as the Prequel era does (CIS with four; Recuscant, Munificent, Lucrehulk, Salvation, vs the Venators and add-on Acclaimators from the previous movie but no-shows in 3). And we're about to get a new movie and it's the most recent installment in the series.

"no sequel saga" is nearly a preposterous suggestion. Let the clone wars fans have their day; for tomorrow it'll be Resistance vs First Order... with both factions easily able to mine craft from the others for thematic purposes.

Forresto, I had similar thoughts and think that it would be a great idea. Taking things one step further, I think each faction could easily get its own squadron pack. The First Order and Resistance transports could even be used with ASSAULT or some type of new boarding party mechanic.

I also agree with you, Norsehound. If people don't like the new films, that's certainly their prerogative. All I ask is that for those of us who do like the new trilogy, they don't try to deny us our fun! There's room enough for all Star Wars fans here, after all. But to say there isn't enough *material* is simply not true. I can list off five or six waves (using Canon ships - from movies, books, and comics) covering all ship sizes. That's not far off from what's in the game currently.

Well, one way to look at it is that the clone wars are only good because of nostalgia glasses. The Clone Wars cartoon is good... in part because it is a medium to gloss over, or fix, the glaring deficiencies of the prequel movies.

That's why it took so long for Clone Wars to even be mentioned in any FFG products. If it was actually good, it would have been featured a lot sooner and a lot more than incidental mentions in something like the RPG. The Resistance era has been relatively seamless in its addition to high-turnaround content products like X-Wing and Destiny. But it took a major announcement (and concession) from LFL to do the Clone Wars because it was perceived as a risk.

You also have fans like me who easily support the Resistance arc, and the sequel movies, over anything and everything in the prequels. I'd easily watch DJ and the side-quest to Canto Bight over Hayden Christensen's creepy leering Anakin complaining about sand.

Well, part of it was marketing on Disneys part, too - they were deliberately stopping authors and such on dealing with anything but the “journey to Aftermath” section for some time - and it’s only that they were in the process of wrapping up the trilogy of trilogies that they’re letting people, companies and licensees get access to the greater license.

I really hope we never see it. Everything about it is bad. The design is lazy and unfitting for Star Wars and everytime I see it it reminds me of the bad writing of the scenes it was in (ALTOUGH it hosted the ONLY competend First Order Officer:  Moden Canady, eventhough he made a huge stratigic error in firing on the (immobile) base instead on the flying Raddus first, but hey nothing concering this mattered at all because we got total First Order Controll of the galaxy in the opening crawl of Ep. 8...)

I know that this will cause a small problem but you have to admit it would be the perfect base for this ship and would be a nice addition to game mechanic to have a huge square base...

We just differ on definition of “small” problem

If only there was a way to have two bases separated by a gap, bridged by a single piece of cardboard. I guess 21st century technology just isn't up to the job. 🙄

If only there were, some sort of way, to rotate the base, 90°... and still maintain which way was front...

Like, a 3d model or something.

Well, I mean, it’s not the gap - it’s the lip.

I feel like the Droid Control Ship, MC85, and First Order Star Destroyer could benefit from something akin to an "Extra Large" base. They seem too big for "Large" and too small for "Huge." To use a technical term, they're "inbetweensies." 😂
