Hi

Yes, this is an adventure I ran at Virtual Grogmeet last year and at UK Games Expo over the summer.

Thanks for your interest!

Here's the pitch I submitted

It is a time of muted celebration for the Crane clan.  The beautiful Doji Meiko is to be wed to Hida Oda, a prominent Crab warrior stationed on the Kaiu wall, defending the Empire from the Shadowlands.  The festivities begin as the tainted minions of Fu Leng watch on....

This is a home-brew adventure for the new edition of Legend of the Five Rings, a fantasy roleplaying game, with some elements of Japanese, Chinese and Korean folklore.  The game will hopefully highlight some of the key elements of L5R, and serve as an introduction to the new rules, but also provide some more familiar elements from traditional fantasy games for new players. Players will be either samurai of the Crane Clan escorting Doji Meiko or members of the Crab Clan, stationed on the wall, with Hida Oda.

Indeed. I found the 'intro text' on the Expo website - I don't suppose I could potentially blag a copy of notes, could I - the players in my game are likely to find themselves in a very similar setting pretty soon, and I was thinking of adapting if I could find a copy.

They've already played Wedding at Kyotei castle, so they already regard court weddings as the second most dangerous situation they can find themselves in, after defending the Kaiu Wall. I figure the best way to trigger spasms of fear is the concept of combining the two.....

I do love the game. I'll be interested to see if there are any at other UK events. One thing that's a shame is that I'm unlikely ever to get to a Gencon Story-setting event....it'd be nice if there was one over here.

That's very kind of you both!

It was designed as an intro to L5R so does draw on RPG tropes (goblins and skeletons, a mini dungeon) but has some Rokugan flavour too.

Here's a link to my evernote notes - includes screen shots of stats/pics

Let me know if this doesn't work!

The host of the Groganard Files, Dirk, was a player and covered the Expo session here https://thegrognardfiles.com/2019/06/04/1d6-uk-games-expo-19-exposed/ and is running a 12-hour game of L5R later this month!

I'll probably run another 1-2 session next UK Games Expo and this is the event Chris/Dirk is running L5R at https://dev.24hr-rpg.fyi
