Will this list win against anything? I don't think so, but doesn't mean I still don't want to fly it!

Is Thrawn the best commander here?  I ask because as I have played him, his job is to give me dials for my ships that I would not otherwise have easy access to.  So I have usually taken 1 engineering and 2 squadron dials.  But you don't have any squadrons at all so you have 1 fewer dial that you need - so is Thrawn going to give you any value?  You haven't got a pressing need for extra dials like you would have with (say) VSDs and a largeish squadron complement.

 

Ozzel or Jerjerrod instead?

Always be Navigating(TM)  with 3 Turns of Engineering Bonus

Its like JJ without taking shield damage, and still bonus Engineering.

Would the VSD be left behind?

I guess you want to go fast (speed 3) with Kuat and GSD to get most use out of black dice, but going speed 3 leaves the VSD behind to the tender mercies of any squadrons you face.

If you have all your ships at speed 2 to stay with VSD, you don’t get the black dice early.

Just my 2p worth.

I have a list with a Kuat, 2x GSD (Demo and Insidious), 2 Gozantis and no squadrons. The sole plan is fly fast, get in quick, Hammer stuff with lots of black dice! I considered VSDs but their speed was the draw back.
