Tournament Legal Sculpts

Recommended Posts

With the new article up for the new upgrade packs for each faction t caught my eye that you can field the new sculpts as a unit of its own. IE the new rebel pack can be the basis of a 4 man Rebel Trooper unit instead of the original that came with the original core set.

So I'm curious as to which sculpts that have been released would be tournament legal for using in a rebel trooper unit.

example for the leader , could you replace it with the rebel officer from the specialist pack instead of the one from the Core Also could you replace the Duros with the rebel comms figure (the Duros being the worst sculpt figure in the worst sculpt unit in Legion to date)

Essentially are we stuck with either the original unit OR the new unit, or can we pick and choose the minis as we please , as long as we make it clear which mini is the leader and which is the heavy, ie we don't have to accurately represent the unit on table a and could use the z6 trooper sculpt in place of the ion weapon, similar to playing an ATRT flames with a rotary canon on the figure, or lastly can we use any figure from the specialists, the original rebel trooper unit, and the new rebel trooper unit, as long as we.clearly indicate what they represent.

Lol ****, the hate for the poor Duros is something else!

I haven't seen many modeling problems at any of the major events. As long as it is clear what you are trying to represent, and you have copies of everything its supposed to be, you should be fine. I think you would be fine!

I would argue that if it is official ffg product or partially ffg product with some aftermarket customization, as long as it’s clear what the unit capabilities are and the modifications don’t yield a significant change (such as all your minis are now crouching to get better line of sight blocking etc) I think it would be fine.

I would probably limit it to minis that don’t grant special abilities though - so if you bought a rebel upgrade pack with the intent of swapping minis and you give them the standard blaster rifle, that’s probably OK. Using the specialist minis from before is more grey because it could confuse the opponent into what ability you may have or may not.

My guess is that the intention is to use the new squad leader with the extra trooper from each of three standard units, giving you 4 total units with a wider variety of heavy upgrades to choose from.

Interestingly, the Stormtrooper box specifically says it comes with E-11's for everyone.  I've seen some theories that it's to allow fielding a unit of Sandtroopers without FFG needing to come up with yet another Stormtrooper unit variant.
