Looks cool

I've already converted all my rebel troopers to be different from each other. I actually may try these because right now i can't stand playing rebels due to the options available. I like their characters better but can't stand most of their troops.

Ok, I said I was content with GCW after I nab my rebel veterans and a landspeeder.

 

Nope. Need 2x of the rebel ones for more heavy weapon variety. And a stormtrooper one for mixing in with my existing units.

Probably just one clone until we know more about them.

Also — I really like they have a unit card and token for these, so you can rope all your fifth trooper minis into a squad with a new commander mini and have a bonus corps unit.

I was a little baffled when I first saw these, but I will admit to liking the idea.  Definitely will be picking one up.  Possibly more, we'll see. 

Anyone have any clue what the "specialist" troopers do?  I can make out that they gain a *, and as an action can gain  ___ or 1 ___.

 

Also curious as to what the officer/captain does, since most things I can think of are already handled by the Officer upgrades for the GCW factions.

I believe his ability is what is being exhausted, not the droid himself.  Just like on every other exhaustible upgrade mini, he would still have the unit's organic weapons as an alternative.

The captains add a training upgrade slot, and seems to do something with suppression as well.

It can still shoot, much as a heavy weapons trooper can still use their squad's usual weapons when their heavy weapon is exhausted.

Pretty sure this is "gains a (training) icon" and free action to gain a surge token.

I'd like to see how these fit into a buyer's guide. I really wish I knew how the clone armies will shake out before I buy more of anything than I really need. All in all though, new/more options are a good thing in my book!

At first I though these were reprints on spruse, but they’re a lot like the Specialists pack. That is so cool.

And the Rebels even get Impact!

I’m thinking just 1/each unless you really want more of the same new heavies out in the field. I’m probably 2 for Rebels so I can get that dlt20 out there. The empire and clones are just 1 for me most likely. Maybe a second clone to jump start my new army.

The pricing on the Storntrooper heavies is... weird. A DLT offers 1.75 average damage at range 1-4 with a useful keyword for 24 points. The T-21 only adds 1.5 damage at range 1-3, but costs 27 points and has a more situational keyword*. The RT-97 seems more reasonable at 26 points for 2 average damage and no keyword, though.

It kind of makes me wonder if the DLT is getting a points adjustment or something.

 

*A unit of 4 Stormtroopers+T-21 has a 34% chance of not getting even one surge, much less two! Even with an aim token, that's still a 23% chance of doing nothing. Factor in critical's limited use in large dice pools vs. Troopers, and you have a rather lackluster gun.

Maybe they wanted to concentrate mainly on the Clone Wars stuff? It is a bit strange.
