Wanted to see how my Sloane 2-Ship handled some of the nasty anti-squad SSD options out there, which @Dreadnowt was kind enough to bring against me. Thankfully his Kallus spend much of the game chucking blank black dice at my aces, so despite a delayed engagement (Pryce turn 3) I was able to take down the Ravager in turn 5

Much closer than the score suggested though, with Demo and most of my squads down to 1 hull.

We had a casual tourney Saturday August 3rd.  I ran an SSD assault prototype with piett executor and Yularen.  Also had an arquitens and a Gazonti.  Other upgrades also.  Second game I had a mirroratch against and SSD interdictor combo.  He thought his grav well would discourage me from ploping my SSD so I was pointing almost directly at his side.  Ozzel and nav first turn foiled that plan.  I got my entire SSD in one of his arcs and got 2-3 attacks each round where he only got 1-2. Took his down. He had 5 damage on me.

SSD went down in round 4 turn 1.

Technically this was my second SSD kill although the first was a Mirror match which I didn't post.

My opponent had an SSD and Interdictor.

My List...

Name: Dual ISD
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Piett

Assault: Advanced Gunnery
Defense: Hyperspace Assault
Navigation: Minefields

ISD Cymoon 1 Refit (112)
• Admiral Piett (22)
• Director Krennic (8)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Dual Turbolaser Turrets (5)
• Sovereign (4)
= 164 Points

Imperial I (110)
• Emperor Palpatine (3)
• Boarding Troopers (3)
• Leading Shots (4)
• XX-9 Turbolasers (5)
• Avenger (5)
= 130 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Comms Net (2)
= 25 Points

Gladiator I (56)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• External Racks (3)
• Demolisher (10)
= 73 Points

Squadrons:
= 0 Points

Total Points: 392

We played his Targeting Beacons.

It took 6 rounds because Avenger got blocked out by the Cymoon for a couple rounds, I also took it slow with Demo and got a big shot in turn 5.  I only lost the Gozanti, I was worried about the Cymoon for a while but it made it.  As I have said and posted before, the Palp officer is no joke.  Definitely the strongest card in the release for my money.

Why are you painting a rebel insignia on it? You really think the people on the planet below see anything other than the giant silhouette? It's miles long but hopefully they'll look directly at that one corner, but only if they are also looking at the top. Imagine how much paint they wasted on that.

There is nothing to indicate that is was only painted on the top. Since a star wars ship can face a planet at any angle, it makes sense to paint it on all 4 flat surfaces. Additionally, we know from Episode 8 that ships in space can appear without merely being a silhouette, so the emblem would indeed be detectable. And, since that back corner is the largest, it would be the most easily spotted.

His first kill was my SSD in our mirror match.  I had him at 18 damage. Then in the last turn he stripped the last of my defence tokens and took me from 12 damage to 22. The last point being a tie defender... Stupid defender!

Yeah no A-wing but I did take the last damage with a Squad which was fun for me, not for him.  😁

bonus points/tie breakers for killing an executor over one of the standard models? (considering it has 11 extra hull and 9 extra sheilds?) lol

I got one more last night, I used the same list as my previous post.

This time my opponent had a Command Prototype with Piett, a Raider, 2 Defenders, and 3 Interceptors.

Despite his fighters punching above their weight class (9/10 of the first shots did damage) I was somehow able to keep Avenger alive at the end with no sheilds, no defense tokens, and 10 damage.  Avenger did most of the work but the Cymoon got the kill with the first activation of Round 6.  I used a similar tactic as the last time, bide my time and get around the front arc of the SSD ASAP.  Demo did not do well this time around, I was too aggressive with it and it died quickly.  Avenger did great though clearing the front arc and getting a close shot on the front left.  This kept my opponent from being able to turn as well and we bumped for a couple turns until Avenger could clear the rear.  The Cymoon had a more measured approach but got good damage in late.  Avenger was extremely fortunate to survive the game but I will say getting into those rear hull zones when you can is not very scary.

Lots of ship on ship touching, I really need to get some extra tall supports from Mel.

Next try will be with Rebels, I really wanted to try some SSD cards though, mostly Palp, Krennic, and Piett.

Ok, so post here when you get your first official kill of an SSD, what turn it died and what fleet you ran.  To be considered you have to have being playing against an official SSD model, no proxy’s/vassal/simulation, etc. Also, it only counts if one of your own ships dealt the killing blow.  (No Auto-Win for flying off table, winning by points, tie-breakers, forfeits, medical emergencies, divine intervention including but not limited to Flies, Frogs, Lice, etc).

Who’s first?

Rank Table (Name, Fastest Win, Total Kills)

1. The Jabbawookiee, Turn 3, II

2. Tall Giraffe, Turn 4, II

3. Decarior, Turn 4, I

3. Darth SanguisTurn 4, I

3. themightyhedgehog, Turn 4, I

3. Strikenowhere, Turn 4, I

7. Akhrin, Turn 5, I

7. Jauntychapeau, Turn 5, I

9. Thrindal, Turn 6, II

10. Ardaedhel, Turn 6, I

Update: Thanks to our first 10 participants!  I think the best tie-break is actually a win/loss stat (if anyone actually cares enough to share that).  If you are on this list and have LOST to an SSD, please let me know.

Title updated to sound more like golf.  Really random reason: renumbering the list in this format to deal with ties reminded me of where I first learned this scoring system, Fuji Golf for Windows 3.1.  Aaaah.  Nostalgia.

I would say tie-breaker should be what SSD it was. If someone is playing against a Executor II I expect it to be a lot tougher than a Command Prototype.

@Kendraam's SSD Crippled in our first game tonight, but he held on for a 9 point win, second game his SSD went down on turn 3 to my Screed 5 ship.

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 387/400

Commander: Admiral Screed

Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective: Capture the VIP
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

[ flagship ] Raider II-Class Corvette (48 points)
-  Admiral Screed  ( 26  points)
-  Disposable Capacitors  ( 3  points)
-  Overload Pulse  ( 8  points)
= 85 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
-  Bomber Command Center  ( 8  points)
= 31 total ship cost

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points)
 Demolisher  ( 10  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)
= 75 total ship cost

Imperial Star Destroyer Kuat Refit (112 points)
 Avenger  ( 5  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)
-  Leading Shots  ( 4  points)
-  External Racks  ( 3  points)
= 135 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
-  Comms Net  ( 2  points)
= 25 total ship cost

4 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 36 points)
= 36 total squadron cost

His combination of Needas evade and Brunson negated the overload pulse and his Interdictors  Targeting scramblers stopped about 20 points of damage from Avenger and Demo. The biggest difference I was player 1 in the first game and player 2 in the second, SSD's don't like opponents objectives.

Out of curiosity, what’s the point of SFO on the Raiders?  It’s a Command value 1 ship, so you’d essentially have no dial at all.

Darth Vader on the Gozanti chokes them out for a reroll.  It's cheaper than any other reroll option.

Took one out last night, on turn 6.  It had all the shooty upgrades plus some antisquad, so my lack of squads came in quite handy!  Importantly it had Damage Control Officer, so my critspam was mitigated for a few turns.  Also, Officer Palpatine + Intel Officer HURTS small ships that want to double arc.  Ow.

My list:

Thrawn on Needakins w/ TRC

Demolisher with ACMs and Wulf, engine techs, OE

Insidious with ACMs and Grint, engine techs, OE

Raider 2 with HIE, DCAPS, Brunson, Veteran Gunners

2 comms net gozantis

General plan is to use Thrawn as 3 engineering dials - Grint and Wulf mean I get a ton of engineering tokens as well, so in theory the gunboats last a tiny bit longer.

I went first.  Mission was Dangerous Territory which we ended up splitting points on.

Turn 2 the raider got a double arc at point blank (that thing starts out a lot farther on the board than I thought it was gonna!), then zipped into the front side arc... where it promptly got oneshot through brunson.  Demolisher sat outside of long range in the front arc while Insidious zoomed around the flank to get closer to the rear.  Demolisher acted last to do what it does best.

Turn 3 demolisher ends up in the side arc after shredding all the shields on the front and front side facings.  Takes a nasty shot that starts chunking hull.  Insidious ends up in perfect position to double arc next turn after taking a beating.

The Needakins sneaks around into the side arc then begins peppering it.  I get a monster triple-double-red roll with a con fire TRC to dump 8 damage out of this thing.  Thrawn was not gonna just watch the torpedo boats have all the fun!

At some point in the next few turns both of my gozantis die, as I used them to collect dangerous territory objectives... which mostly were in the front arc of the SSD.

Turn 4 demolisher takes its shots and ends up in the rear arc, along with Insidious.  At this point they are both looking terrible - palpatine plus intel officer means they have few if any tokens left.

Turn 5 demo flees to red range.  Insidious blows up, and demo gets blasted down to one hull with no tokens remaining.  It sneaks out barely.

Turn 6, on the last shot I can take, Thrawn again comes up big with a 6 damage roll to do exactly enough damage to take it out.  At this point the only things I have on the field are Thrawn in a lightly scratched needakins, and a demolisher leaking reactor fuel at 1hp with no tokens.

So, torpedo fleets can fight this thing.  It hits like a ton of bricks, but without DCO I suspect it would have died turn 4-5.  I am personally more worried about a SSD with some squad support - a few more damage here or there from squad harassment would have seen my ships popping a turn or two earlier, which would have ended me.
