Choosing between 2 republic lists without trying them

Hello all.

In some time I will be going to a hyperspace trial so I wanted to use my new N1, which just arrived. The problem is I probably won't be able to test the list before I get there and play, so I am trying to choose between 2 lists the most competitive one that uses the N1 and my other republic ships (I also have guardians of the republic and an ARC-170).

Can you help me choose the best list? 😃 No matter which one I choose it's going to be tough without practicing, but whatever, I will risk , 😂

 

So the first list includes all the ships that I have I hope that in the most efficient way:

Definitely list 1; it's easily the better of the two.

But it does feel like Ric is a little sparsely loaded in this list. I've been trying to think of ways to free up the 5 or so points it would want to get him kitted out, but I've been drawing a bit of a blank.

It's a possibility that if you dropped one of the torrents and ran 4 ships you could give Ric a little more to work with, give mace a little more to work with,  and probably upgrade the arc to a named pilot. It's just a thought

 

Either way, list 1 is the better one

Do you own two Arcs? If so, this has been very successful for me.

No, that's not a possibility. I have 1 ARC, 2 torrents, an N1 and the delta-7 pilots of guardianes of the republic. It looks good though

I flew something similar lately. Not bad, but I've got to say, a single GST feels really awkward.

You're not wrong, but I think this is the best we can do with available resources.

I think the ideal list would have been:

Mace - 7B, maybe an R4

Ric - DD, R2-C4

2x 104th Battalion Pilot

But there's only 1 arc-170 available so we can't do that - I think this is the next best thing

I flew the list below and it was super successful. No option can truly be ignored. Go after the bulk and maybe take a torrent down but then get hit back. Chase down the aces and get shot by the bulk. It’s really fun. Ric is amazing and Obi is great on his own or flying close to another ship to help them with focus.

The only thing I’d change is drop brilliant evasion for daredevil on Ric. Gives you a 2 point bid which isn’t terrible.

I have been thinking in the next list before I saw that. It's pretty much the same, but adding R2-C4 on Ric for more punch and R2-A6 on Obi-wan for more flexibility in his moves. By the way, I think brilliant evasión is not so useful with Obi-wan since his ability already turns a force token into a focus (sort of).

I tried c4 on Ric and never really used it. However a6 on a high initiative Jedi makes them slippery. 

As you said brilliant evasion didn’t prove useful so I dropped it and went with daredevil on Ric instead of predator and got a 2pt bid out of it.

My concern is that having Ric only with daredevil feels like he is lacking something when he uses the 90° boost. My main idea with R2-C4 is to do that 3 turn maneuver, get evade, daredevil, shoot with modded dice having turned 180° (similar to a talon roll), but the bad part of it is I only have a 1 point bid, which feels quite bad, specially for CLT Obi-wan.

I could change R2-C4 for R2 astromech or R4-P astromech to have just 1 more bid point, but I don't know, both feel like worse options for Ric (or at least not as fun and new as R2-C4! ) plus a 2 points bid keeps feeling meh.

I really don't want to drop R2-A6 from Obi for the bid, it looks really good, at least on paper.

A6 is really good. It makes the Jedi super slippery. Their frailty comes into play more without 7b and/or regen. You could put sense and a6 on Obi and then the bid matters less as he can just adjust his dial as necessary and the use fine tuned or his action to further arc dodge. 

I run r2 on Ric. I usually swoop him in and engage then fly out to keep the speed bonuses. Therefore he has a 3 dice defense with a mod while he’s disengaged. C4 makes him super aggressive and it’s not how I usually play him. On paper that upgrade should be stapled on Ric. At 6 points it’s got a lot of contenders for other options.

I think what I'm going to do at the end is using Ric with daredevil and R2 astromech and Obi-wan with R2-A6. I will have 2 points of bid which at least is something. Putting sense on Obi doesn't convince me, first because I really don't have the points and second because he already wants the force for fine-tuned controls and his ability, that I intend to use as much as I can. He will always focus and if he spends the eye on attack he will have it again for defense. 

I hope my opponents don't have a larger bid / any I5 pilotos xD. One can dream...
