Most valuable artifact?

Recommended Posts

I really struggle with this question as the Star Wars Universe (SWU) doesn't really imbue items with mystical magical force.

And for me RPG Artifacts are items imbued with POWERFUL mystical magical force such as, Conan's Cimmarian Sword, the Invulnerability Brooch of Cuchulain, or the Intelligent Longsword of Miaiswain.

Soooooo, the light saber of Ben Kenobi isn't really all that big of a deal.  Its' functionally similar to the light saber of Anakin the whiny moppy Jedi.

That said, I do have an 'Artifact' In My SWU: The Holocron of Yoda.  :o

I beg to differ. There are a significant number of artifacts within the lore which were specifically imbued with the Force; a good number of them being Sith Amulets and other talismans. This is why such talismans are included in the F&D Core rules. Jedi and Sith Holocrons, as well, are imbued with the Force.

Artifact?  I'd say none, because I don't think there's anything in the galaxy that has that kind of intrinsic value.  Seems to me that is more of an "eye of the beholder" question, which makes it story-based.  Generally a credit is a credit, but at that level it depends on who is buying and why.  That narrows it down quite a bit, because probably few people in the galaxy have that much at their disposal.  I mean, that's 20 Victory-class Star Destroyers (50 million a pop), and if you can buy those, if you really want something with an intrinsic value of 1B why not just take it?  Let's say there's a hand-off...you can pay a boatload of mercs for a small fraction of 1B, get your prize, make some mercs happy, and go on your merry way.  Old Palps might offer 1B for that Mortis blade, but the PCs will never get to keep or enjoy the money.

There might be other things with that kind of intrinsic value if they're based on economics.  Say the PCs head up a corporation, well, they might trade a planet here or there in that price range.  Or let's say they're deep-space prospectors, and on the edge of an imploded star cluster they manage to snag a teaspoon of neutron star...it weighs 10 million tons, might be worth quite a bit *if* the government they register their find with isn't too corrupt...
