@Magnus Grendel Um, I'm pretty sure Void points don't reset per session. Where does this say?

It is a bit unclear.

P.36 says you begin the "game" with void point equal to half your void ring round up.

Lets be fair here, that can mean a lot of things.

But since "the game" is not really a valid technical term, I am interpreting it as the "game session".

But yeah, for such a core mechanic to be wildly differently understood by different readers can only speak about how the technical rule writing is overall poor in this edition.

In the beta version, it was talking about per session; that's why I hadn't noticed it had changed. It's a wording change which may or may not have been intentional.

I'm... reasonably certain? that "the game" means, well, the game. Like, you make a character and they begin the game with X Void points, no session reset. No wonder I keep seeing posts talking about spending Void points like there's no tomorrow if they get their Void points back, well, "tomorrow".

On the other hand, it's not like any part of the book has been decently proofread, so who knows what they meant?

I think a lot of people think of the "game" as per "the game session". If it really was only at character creation, it could have been implied in a much clearer way than to say "the game".

It basically makes you start the session with 1 or 2 void points. Nothing too crazy. Plus if you were over half, you go down to half.

I do like your interpretation though. That makes people play into their disadvantages more. It can become a bit too gamey, not sure.

Oh well, dump it into the "unclear, poorly worded, GM decide" section ;)

It's definitely how we've been playing it (though I didn't realise the text had changed, so don't take that as gospel).

As- mistakenly - noted earlier - it does provide a noticeable change between Void 2 and Void 3 (that extra void point per session), which to me is the 'equivalent' (if not precisely balanced) of the increase in 'hit points' (composure/endurance) and 'initiative' (focus/vigilance) that increasing the other rings offer.

Kind of how my group saw it too. But now I don't know, with the rules as written it is definitely possible to interpret it both ways...
