How so?  I thought it was gain FR 1 not FR +1.  So if you saved it, the bought 1 from another career, it wouldn't do anything.  I'm not seeing how you can use it to push beyond 1 quickly.

Go through a bunch of trees purchasing Force Rating. You can't use it yet. Now get Witchcraft for FR1. Suddely all of those Force Rating talents kick in.

I wonder if the Nightsister tree is going to be restricted to females only (or female Dathomirians only).

I also wonder if it is going to have a Force talent or Force power that lets them phase through walls.

I don't think so. It's rare that FFG restrict things like that. ****, there isn't even a restriction to be a clone for the clone career (at least from what I read) so who knows.

Take a non-Force starting career.

Buy non-career specs with “+FR” talent box(es).

Buy down to those boxes, but with no FR to increase.

Buy Nightsister spec.

Pay 5 XP, and get access to all of the Force points you’ve bought at once.

There is a restriction that you need to be a human male for Retired Clone Trooper (Dawn of Rebellion). This is actually the example of non-communication between products where a Clone cannot technically be a Retired Clone Trooper since, in this system, Clone is a species distinct from human.

easy you buy a bunch of the +1 force rating talents. They will do nothing because you have no force rating. then you buy this talent and all those force rating talents activate and you go from force rating 0 to force rating 4. To do it you would have to start in a age or edge career. then buy into F&D specs and buy force rating talents. Then you buy into the Nightsister spec and buy the gain force rating talent. poof.

You technically could do that, but is there any conceivable practical use for doing this?

Potentially. Given that Night brothers like Maul and Savage weren't taught Dathomirian magic, that would make sense. They were only really taught to use the force by the Sith and thus didn't really learn any of the advanced techniques even a novice sister would've known.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if the stipulation wasn't included. Unlike the Jango clones the divide is more of a cultural one then anything.

Which gets me wondering; why just male clone troopers? I mean I guess it is the most direct copy of Jango's template, but ehh, given the issues they were starting to have with Jango's DNA toward the end of the war I'm surprised they didn't start producing variations on the clones to compensate for potential damage on their supplies.

I might be wrong, but don't you either have to have FR to buy into specs like these or they give you FR.

Also, if i remember correctly you can't purchase Force Talents without FR.

No. Anyone can purchase any spec. You can even take a droid a Mystic if you wish. It still has to purchase the force talents to move past them, but gains no benefit from them.

As for gaining a force rating, usually it's the careers that give you FR, not the spec. The specs that give you a FR only do so if you are capable of using the force.

@Jareth Valar is correct here. This spec appears to be unique in that it has a talent within the tree itself you purchase with XP that allows you to gain Force Rating 1, and thus become Force sensitive, if you choose to take said talent, or not, as opposed to increasing your existing Force Rating, or the spec itself granting the Force Rating.

Super convenient plan right there. 😄

This is no different than doing just what you proposed, then purchasing Force Sensitive Exile or the like instead of Nightsister. Only you don't have to spend the extra 5 XP to buy Witchcraft.

My issue with the spec is that Witchcraft is only 5 XP instead of 10. After all, the other Universal specs that grant FR don't grant any bonus career skills. Here, you get 4 career skills and only need to spend 5 XP for FR 1.

I don't understand the rage over this to be honest. Its just FR1, not FR+1. If you do the above and buy a bunch of +1 FR talents why would you buy this rather than any of the other Force sensitive universal specialisations? They cost the  same and the only benefit to the Nightsister tree is 4 career skills, 2 of which are pretty common regardless.

It is also a tree from a more force aware time period

I haven’t noticed any “rage” about it; just an observation about it.

Rage might've been a bit of a strong word but some people do seem genuinely concerned about it.

I think “concern” is even strong.

Definitely some curiosity and brainstorming, though, as a talent that allows purchase of Force rating (and for only 5 XP, at that) is a first for the system.

By making it a talent it could technically be exploited with the scars that allow a minor talent. Not sure how though.
