Different ways of getting rebel re-rolls.

Hello All.

I have a fleet that I want to use but I need to get a Hit/Crit with 4 black (5 with con fire) dice.

I'm wondering if there is a way of getting some re-rolls doing this without using the Weapons Team (I need to fill the slot with something else) or Leading Shots (no ion cannon on the intended ship).

Any ideas from the crowd?

Welcome to Rebel design Philosophy 101.

 

The Imperials get Consistency, with Reroll Source after Reroll Source after Reroll Source.

 

Rebellions are built on hope, and so apparently, are their Dice Modifications.

They have a small pool of "set to x face" (TRC/ "Intensify Firepower!") for specific circumstances, but no massed rerolls.

 

You are very limited to Caitken and Shollan, and Ordnance Experts for black Dice.

Otherwise, you're just...  Relying on Hope.

Might as well Embrace it. ;)

I wouldn't make a list that you "need" to get 5 hit crits.

rerolling black dice is unreliable. You're just as likely to reroll into blank as you are into hit + crit.

before rerolls you're aiming for a 1/1240 chance. Assuming you're firing your dice every round of a game it's only realistically gonna happen 1 in every 171 games.

now remember you're just as likely to reroll into blanks as hit + crit.

tl;dr: I would change your list if you "need" to roll 5 hit and crits.

Assuming that you've got your CF command for the fifth dice you're typically rolling 1.25 crits on 5 dice before rerolling anything. If you add in some rerolls (anything that's a miss or just a hit) then you're up to 2.2 crits.

On likelihoods 5 dice is about a 76.3% chance of getting at least 1 crit, or 94.4% if you're rerolling any misses or crits. 

So I guess it depends on how you balance the need for a crit against the need to use those upgrade slots for something else.

Other sources of upgrades would be things like pushing your opponent into picking Targeting Beacons, or using other slots (ex. Hondo or Veteran Captain for a CF token) but you're fairly limited.

Darth Vader (the commander version), if you're running Imperials.

 

But like others have said, this may increase your plausible number of Hit/Crits but will very rarely result in all Hit/Crits.

Yeah, no such luck on Rebels though.

Suppose you could consider Leia or Garm (I'm still pushing Garm on people!) for a route to getting CF tokens.

Ahh, yeah, thanks.  I missed that in the title. 

 

The 4 (5 with a CF) also threw me.  The only ship I could come up with was that fit the description was a Gladiator.

 

Though now I think about it there are many ways to get this with Rebels.  

1) MC30 with rapid reload.

2) Hammerhead double arcing with either External racks or Expanded launchers.

3) MC75 with External racks.

4) Sato.

 

There is also the a Raider 1 with External racks or Expanded launchers, but not Rebel, so moot point.

Garm with Ahsoka to swap your tokens to CF as you spend them. Can't have more than one on a ship at any time though so you probably would only swap 4 times, and the rerolls are spred over the turns.
