Rubberized base bottoms?

Recommended Posts

You know, I've thought of this and I used to weight my 40k bases. I ended up getting rubberized play field. A thought... is there something you can "dip" the bases in to rubberized just the edges and then file off clean with the outer edge? Might be faster and easier.

I use these from Escapade Gaming and Gear in Sweden. I wouldn't play without them. Looks like they're sold out of everything but medium bases right now though.

I was gifted a few of these at SOS. They are excellent. They add a good bit of weight as well which means they are harder to knock as well as being grippier.

Just to second the super fast and clean solution of cabinet bumpers.  Have four of these on most of my bases and when I accidently play with bases that do not have them, I find they slide all over the place.  Probably not quite as effective as mouse pads but takes virtually no time or effort.  Not sure on the exact height you want though  it's been too long since I bought them...

I know, right?!?!?!?   Whenever I have to play with a base without them, it's crazy!   It feels like they slide everywhere.

Also agree that they are super easy and super cheap to use.

Some people in my play group, including myself, use the following brand:

There is a picture of them mounted under a base in Medium bases thread.

I have 100+ ships and I use cabinet bumpers for most of my bases. I haven't done all of my bases so I just use the ones with the bumpers on them. I can get a sheet of 48 for $3.00. Its peel and stick and quick.

I was all set to buy a sacrificial mousepad before my next game, but this looks absolutely brilliant. I’ve gone ahead and ordered a set.

Cool.  Make sure to post if they are the correct depth or not.  I bought mine off the shelf and the sizes may or may not be the same.

Got em. Missed the timing for my last game, but I’ve put some on bases.

They definitely make the bases stick up a noticeable amount. They also still might slide more than I was hoping for.

But, the proof will be in flying them. Hopefully soon...

Finally tried these some yesterday. I played on a smooth card table surface, and I had a mix of rubber-footed and “regular” bases to see if I could tell the difference.

Boy howdy could I tell the difference! The ones without feet were sliding all over the place. The ones with them were very, very noticeably harder to accidentally nudge out of place.

I don’t like how few bases I could do with just a single pack. But, I’m close to ready to buy more packs...

Still nothing about baby bumpers?

This thread disappoints.

What? You think you know everything I’m gonna say? Well how about this: RUBBER BABY BUGGY BUMPERS! Bet you didn’t see that coming, eh?!

The only problem I’ve found is that the cardboard templates from the core set tend to fit under the base rather than being flush with the ship base if you use the cabinet bumpers (depending on their height).  But if you use acrylic templates which are slightly thicker you don’t have this problem.

So, anyone figured what is the ideal height for this?
