I will be really surprised to see an announcement from Asmodee/FFG about a game/espansion for Terrinoth (Heroes of Terrinoth or Descent) in the future. We are still waiting for Legends that are simply cards 😞

Agreed.  It is an effing POD (print on demand).  The demand exists, so why don't they print already?  Or, better yet, just send me the digital assets, and I will print my own.  This should have been done and released no later than a few days after their announcement.

I’m happy we’re getting it, but I agree with any2cards- we’re nearing four months since the announcement and five weeks since the livestream, where they said it was planned for release within the month.

****, I was sure it was going to be in that ”Available Now” article the other day.

It drummed up a high level of interest on this forum, BGG, and Descent’s subreddit, so it has to be clear that many of us want it.

It says it's in development :) -  a bit like the previous "we got stuff" ambiguity *coughs*, of course with the Sadlers making a fantasy game they've been developing for a while with another company and even a deck of cards release (Lost Legends) being a slow deal it does seem to be further evidence that fantasy outside of LOTR isn't too big a priority for FFG right now, I've just got the Latari core for RWM for £15 (down from £55) although that retailer is getting quite a lot of new RWM stock in now, so mixed signals from that, but price drops like that suggest either it's not selling well, or the restock suggests it is but only at the much reduced prices, doing hall 2 at the expo tomorrow so will hopefully get to see if any Terrinoth items feature on FFG's stand (UK Games Expo) - yes or no and if so how prominently, that will tell us something.

But on the Sadlers, Heroes of Terrinoth only came out in November (five months after the first announcement*) and that was in their post-FFG days and it's still on my to buy list - I think sometimes because time goes so fast sometimes we think recent events were ages ago because of expectation that loads of time must have passed!

* so FFG sometimes drop announcements of third quarter games which can end up Christmas/ fourth quarter games from around June-time onwards so for this weeks natural 20 optimism clearly the LL delay's so they can announce a bigger release just after hehe.....

The upsides to the current negatives:

1. people still want Runewars Miniatures Game, even if it has to be reduced due to FFG's poor marketing, the reductions may get new people into the game, so ironically it may seed its own revival.

2. The fact we're learning FFG stuff happens slowly (can't really criticise on that hehe as a slowburn creative myself) - thus hints there could be more new stuff not just Lost Legends don't have to fade with their age and my sheer willpower of optimism on this belief :)

3. whatever happens we have all the kit we do have plus all the stuff fans are working on across the different games,

so they've still got some years of life left in them.

Does seem odd a card deck taking so long, are they doing something app related that they've not finished? Answers on a postcard (or playing card...)

They appeared to have complete decks for the mage and healer classes (definitely the main reason I want this expansion- they hybrids are more like bonus content for me) so I really don’t see the delay (Disclaimer: I don’t know **** about game manufacturing and production)

Unless they’re going to release it inside a small box... :P

They sometimes weave news together, I did say maybe the name's a tease- lost legends, maybe they're toying with us and there is something else to be announced first edition connected (my boundless optimism, if i was up against all the baddies of Terrinoth, yeah, it'll be fine :) )

Since I preordered it (and already paid it), It would be strange that the component would change in the meantime. Sorry to break your dreams, guys.

No harm done- I was just kidding around. I myself asked my FLGS to get it.

My thinking was another component might work quite well with it (oh this new set's got that character from Lost Legends in it....)

I think it may be partnered by another new release and that we'll see Shadar in that release...

Shadar Runearmour on the cover art, ok I take some people's point this doesn't have to mean she'll be in the game- when I first suggested this the response was often 'oh it's probably a hero cut from The Chains That Rust' or that 'they've dropped so they're just making use of the art', but if you'd axed a planned character why use them in any of the products at all? Seems more likely they are still coming to the game to me and the new art gives me some confidence this is the case. Just too weird to include the art in Descent if not.

As to what and how we'll just have to hope something pops up in the news that answers that. 'Tis a puzzle indeed, Yet perhaps elemental-ry my dear Watson as the sleuth Holmes once said!

Gaps from announcements to product can be long- Treaty of Champions for example was announced for fourth quarter 2015 in mid August 2015 but came out late Jan 2016

Your logic fails ... yes there were gaps in the past when products were announced and then delivered, but that was when FFG was bothering to pay attention to the product line, and was actively producing product for the game.

That has long since ceased.  If the game was called "Descent: Journeys into Star Wars" then perhaps I would be less skeptical. 😋

****, they can't even be bothered to produce the POD announced months ago ... what makes you think they will produce hard tangible assets for Descent?

You all need to get off of the hard drugs.  It is messing with your perception of reality.

Terrinoth line has clearly been dismissed. Even at the UK Con there were no traces of it and its products (as you can read in another thread).

As Petersen stepped out FFG became only an Asmodee brand and Asmodee staff is ...

Lost Legends is on the boat!

...on the boat? Eh. It’s coming.

That's new- it was in development at the weekend! Maybe FFG have read these threads hehe (they're only pretending they don't lol) 'On the boat''s amusing for an in-house product, shouldn't take too long as it's not literally 'on the boat'.

The truth could be either way- they're done with Terrinoth going forward or they're not, there's evidence leaning in both those directions.

It has dawned on me that LOTR Journeys will be available as a Christmas season buy for the first time this year having only come out in April (announced in January), an app campaign expansion and villain pack having been launched also just before the game was available. There could even be more content for this in time for Christmas. So there is one train of thought that suggests maybe they wouldn't put two fantasy titles out too close together if they're focusing on promoting one of them, LOTR Journeys.

But there are so many possibilities we just don't know- as some people have theorized LOTR Journeys could be a Terrinoth idea that evolved into a LOTR idea - or it could just be another new thing which like RWM, Heroes of Terrinoth, Genesys and Legacy of Dragonholt meant Descent having a hiatus while FFG had their minds and focus on other things, some of which were still based in Terrinoth. People may also be right about RWM performing lower than FFG hoped causing them to be more cautious with the future of Terrinoth (I stick by my theory that if that's the case it's still partly FFG's own fault for failing to market it well enough and give it time to take off). There's also the double edged sword of size, Asmodee's now so big it has so many titles to manage this can't make it too easy to give them all an equal amount of TLC or keep them all in the public eye all the time. As a business you maybe even want them to have times of lower awareness so there's a bit more hype when something new does come out. Then there's the fact games do have natural peaks and lows sales wise, not everything has longevity or will sell infinite expansions (the Descent 2e range consists of 44 items after all), so new releases for older games are naturally likely to become rarer once the range has already grown quite a lot, eventually it may reach its critical mass as far as the business is concerned thus they decide it's a complete range in their eyes (every new release always has the risk it's one too many- it's one thing having creative ideas and potential expansions but they've still got to have enough people who'll buy them).

I'm sure the behemoth size of Asmodee is a factor though- a couple of big titles on other 'labels' were out of stock for a very long time before they finally made more to meet demand, but then having backed a few Kickstarters it can also take time to make games if parts are being shipped from China or elsewhere, so the whole process including playtesting and everything else if it's new is often a very slow one. It could be that the various factories effectively have games queued up or/and competing for production time, then they've got the long shipping period.

Shadar our hopes rest with you, a couple of years to even make it into the game art, are you on a slow journey through the dark to the game or do you merely carry a basket of red herrings wafting that fishy smell of false hope in our direction as you tease us with the promise of 'lost legends' for people like me to read far too much into :)

@Watercolour Dragon: I am sorry, but I don't agree 🙂

Asmodee is just thinking to their money, not to the quality of their products 😞 Furthermore, they are unable to do real business (although numbers seem to contradict me 🙂 ).

Monopoly is there since ... I don't even know: I was not born at that time and I am old 🙂 So games can survive decades.

HoT: why put this game out if they just don't want to invest in it? They could have simply let things as they were when they lost the GW's IPs.

I am convinced that Asmodee managers are not the right persons for a brand like FFG was.

P.S. I don't want to "argue" about JitME: my impression, from all the reviews, is that it is a sub-par product for FFG brand. Even the LotR lovers find that it has nice ideas, but that it still needs a lot of develepment 😉

I still don't understand why Asmodee missed this opportunity (and why they don't develop HoT at least). Which are the volumes that they expect from a game: millions of copies??? I wish I knew how many JiME copies they did sell :-)
