CIS Commanders/Operatives

Recommended Posts

Yes, more speculation. But let's keep it specific to the CIS. What do you think we're going to see? What do you hope we get?

We already know General Grievous is first up for Commanders. I'm guessing that Count Dooku will be next, followed by Poggle the Lesser. On the Operative side of things, I'm thinking we're going to see Jango Fett and Darth Maul first.

Down the line there's a chance for some others, like: Darth Sidious, Asajj Ventress, Cad Bane, etc. But I don't expect these soon if at all.

I'm not sold on Darth Maul, since he was considered during much of the actual Clone Wars, and then started his own faction, the Shadow Collective. I think we are more likely to see Asajj Ventress, Cad Bane, possibly a young Boba Fett for Operatives. Especially since Jango dies in the first official battle of the Clone Wars. I think we might get a Tactical Droid Commander as the generic, then there is a whole bunch of generals that could be brought in from the cartoon listed here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Separatist_admirals_and_generals .

Edit: As a note, official Canon does not include the trade dispute on Naboo as part of the Clone Wars, which start many years later.

I think we will get Palpatine as well.  He would be faster and have a lightsaber as well as force lightning.

For CIS, though? I see him in Galactic Republic, dual-sided between his Supreme Chancellor and Sith Lord aspects, just like how the character hides his true nature...

We need this guy.  I hated him with passion during his initial run, but after seeing what's come since, wouldn't mind the ole pile of worms making a come back.  Make him stupidly expensive, with a "meh" attack but high health and regen.

EDIT: But please, LORDS OF LEGION, do not put Palpatine in the game AGAIN.  It was silly the first time, and would be even sillier the second time.  Leave galactic rulers out of platoon-level fights unless they actually participated in them. (like Dooku)

I would kill for a mini of Durge!

I think, based on X-wing's current releases, we will see Episode 1 and 2 characters as part of Republic/Seperatists. Maul and Jango would make great operatives. Maybe Nute Gunray as a commander.

Kalani was the tactical droid that appeared in Rebels. I think he'd make an awesome commander. It'd be fun to be able to field a pure droid force without the force-users.

Yeah, he was basically the architect behind the whole thing.  I see him paired off with Master Yoda for the Republic.  I can also see him being a commander for the Republic.  His Republic commander would be cheaper and have more of a support role, where his CIS commander would be more like a mixture of Vader and the Emperor for the Empire.  They could be called

Emperor Palpatine - Empire

Chancellor Palpatine - Republic

Darth Sidious - CIS

Dooku is the next commander guaranteed.

After that it's a bit up in the air (I certainly don't expect but would prefer Durge).

Operative-wise we're probably getting Jango first (yes he died, but barring an author's saving throw after a decidedly not Disney death so did Maul)...

If we're getting Force sensitive operatives Asajj would probably be next (assuming Maul isn't in) but then everything is up in the air...

Oh, I think we will get the lovely Ventress before Jango.    Just because you are force sensitive, doesn't mean you can't be an operative too.   If not Ventress, then it will be Cad Bane before Jango.   If Jango comes at all, it won't be for a while.   We have have SO many bounty hunters that deserve to be made; Aurra Sing, Lattz Razzi, Dengar, etc before some guy that loses his head.

My guess is we will get a tactical (or preferably super tactical) generic commander in whatever CIS specialist pack we get.

At the very least, I want Kalani, as he’s around in the Rebellion Era.

I'm totally on board with Chancellor Palp being Republic, but while his Darth Sidious was acting behind the scenes to get the CIS going, I think he still belongs in the Republic... as the reverse side to Chancellor Palp, with a rule that allows him to unleash his powers to deal with 'treason'.

Personally, I think Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious makes more sense as an objective set similar to the downed at-st.   Making him an escort mission, would be interesting and offer a new objective type.

I would agree with you except for the only time we see him actually fighting he is fighting Jedi, which are clearly Republic.  I would say that he plays just as big of a role in the CIS as he does in either of the other factions he's apart of.

I'd argue that when the Jedi were fighting him directly, it was an internal Republic v Republic conflict rather than Republic v CIS. Or treason, if you prefer.

Palpatine may have acted against the Jedi, but he never acted for the Separatists; he used agents such as Darth Maul and Count Dooku for that. Palpatine's own actions were taken to advance his agenda within the Galactic Republic.

Therefore I'd see Sidious as a Sith Republic commander.

This could make for part of a fun mini campaign :)

I guess I see it that he was never really working for the Republic.  He created the whole conflict to turn the Republic into the Empire.  He manipulated the Republic in the same ways the he manipulated the CIS.  He was essentially the leader of both the Republic and the CIS, acting mainly though proxies, Anikin for the Republic and Dooku for the CIS, to orchestrate the collapse of the Republic and the Jedi order.  That being said I do see your point about not working directly as an agent of the CIS.

Baby boba would be stupid.

Tactical Commander droid feom the cartoons would be cool. What about the insect people? Didn't they have aome hierarchy? Why no Republic or Merc faction talk or speculation?

Poggle the Lesser was in my top list as far as the Geonosians go. And I'm absolutely down for a Republic chat. These threads usually go spiraling off into crazy places, so I thought this could be a more focused discussion. But my brain is working overtime on the Republic as well.

In terms of his personal motivations you're right - he was never for the Republic, nor the Separatists. Both were very much tools in his schemes.

Poggle with Geonosians, Nute Gunray with Neimoidians... if we get Jango Fett, could Zam Wesell be an option?

And of course, getting OOM-9 in AAT as a Commander option could be fun :)

To be fair, people would complain if the Sith Infiltrator didn't have Darth Maul as a pilot, and there FFG can't really put him anywhere else. In Legion though, Maul never fights directly alongside droids (that I can recall anyway, same planet, same time, but not in the same battlefield), and in canon leads a completely separate faction from the CIS.

I think the Tactical droid is a good choice for the generic CIS Commander, alongside a generic Clone Commander. I'd rather see Cade Bane and Asajj Ventress as Operatives than Jango Fett, who pretty much amounts to a recolour of Boba Fett.

Vehicle commanders are probably unlikely since that would require new rules that could lead to unbalancing in regards to the morale bubble commanders supply.

If it's just the morale bubble that would cause a snag, then the simplest solution could be something like 'Separatist troopers within Range 2 may OOM-9's courage value as 2' as a rule for our tank commander.

We may or may not see vehicle commanders or operatives for a while, but I think there is some scope. Enfys Nest, anyone?

A morale bubble in a large based unit that additionally difficult to remove changes the points benefit if the morale bubble. Plus, vehicle command covers a bigger section of the battlefield with their order bubble, and the commander rule would need adjusting/circumventing with a "Vehicle Commander" rule.

The question is was maul working under dooku ever or just sidious? He may have fought along some droids and we never saw it because pahntom menace had such a limited acope

If they want Darth Maul in the game (which they do, he's incredibly popular) they will put him in the CIS, just like they did in X-Wing.

Zam Wesell would definitely be my first choice for a bounty hunter Operative. I know she's kinda lame in the movie, but she was always a favorite of mine. I would love is she was put in the game down the line.
