Hot Rod - The Decimator lives!

I’ve been thinking about Tactical Scrambler, too (large ship obstructs enemy attacks), and hiding a viable ace behind the wall of a Decimator while another ship flanks. This might be an opportunity to try that out!

I liked your idea! Gives a little more life to Duchess and Soontir.

How would you modify this in extended? What would you drop to get Jerry in? Just wondering. Also I feel like trading 5bro and BT would be better for the extra passive mods and higher regen rate (force ships will both regen one per turn for a total of 2 instead of 1).

No idea, it’s not my list 😂. In fact, I don’t play Empire, but I think it’s cool the Deci seems to start showing up

@ClassicalMoser, I would try this to start with. Yeah... you do lose the ability to sort of force a stress on them with 0-0-0 gone, but Oicunn still gets a passive mod with fifth brother, which you would still get as a calculate because they don’t want to take a permanent stress through Death Tr000pers, yet they’re still punished for k turning or linking actions at 0-1. I don’t find much use for bt-1 since he doesn’t yield anything extra for certain (the critical hit may or may not have any significant effect on the recipient), so I don’t think he’s much of a loss. One of both shield upgrades could be downed to hull upgrades if a bid is desired.

@Dalli, do you have any thoughts on a version of Hot Rod that is Hyperspace legal? Perhaps RAC with a beefy Duchess?

Not sure. I am working on it. The thing is - no Jerjerrod means no HotRod :D

Pitr  - a polish guy plays the original list into the cut.

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (76)
Lone Wolf (5)
Moff Jerjerrod (8)
Darth Vader (14)
Proton Bombs (5)
Hull Upgrade (2)
Dauntless (4)

“Whisper” (57)
Juke (7)
Collision Detector (6)
Fifth Brother (9)
Stealth Device (6)
Total: 199

You can also play it with 0-0-0 and mines.

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (76)
Lone Wolf (5)
Moff Jerjerrod (8)
Darth Vader (14)
0-0-0 (5)
Proximity Mines (6)
Shield Upgrade (3)
Dauntless (4)

“Whisper” (57)
Juke (7)
Fifth Brother (9)
Stealth Device (6)
Total: 200

You cand also get a bid if you use hull upgrade instead of shield.

For Hyperspace a double Decimator seems quit good.

I've been trying to make double-decis work but they always seem to be missing something. If I have enough stuff on RAC there's not enough for Oicunn to shine. If I downgrade to a Patrol Leader for the second, RAC takes all the heat and then the Patrol Leader struggles in the endgame. I've definitely observed:

• You only want one force user for each ship (Usually Vader on one and 5Bro on the other, but the Grand Inquisitor could be good). More than that and it's just a one-time ability and a waste of points.

• Passive mods are everything. Reinforce is so important and still hardly does enough, and two ships basically means 2 actions per turn (and that only if you don't get blocked, which these do in spades).

• Oicunn has Intimidation stapled to him. He also really needs VTG. Yes, even at 8 points. He's always that close-up anyway so he'll burn down fast. The extra attacks are easy enough to get that not taking them is a waste.

• Control effects are appealing but mostly a trap. Death Troopers and Sloane are powerful, especially on a brawler like Oicunn, but as much fun as it is to screw with your opponent, it's not really doing that much for your list's performance.

So what I'm currently working on is variants of this:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (76)
    Ruthless (1)
    Darth Vader (14)
    Dauntless (4)
Ship total: 95  Half Points: 48  Threshold: 8

Captain Oicunn (74)
    Intimidation (3)
    0-0-0 (5)
    Grand Inquisitor (14)
    Veteran Turret Gunner (8)
Ship total: 104  Half Points: 52  Threshold: 8

Total: 199

In general: That is importend. If you can all eqip the good stuff - everyone would play the same setup. Its very good balanced of you feel that way.

So, I had a go at this, and I really enjoyed it. There’s sacrifices: no Jerjerrod, (I know, I know)... BUT you know what IS cool??? YOU HAVE A DEFENDER, lol. 😜

You have to be patient with Rex or you just bump and lose him. Basically you attack every other round 🙄🙄. But you can get your locks on the off round.

That being said, I had a blast with two of my favorite ships on the board together!

Raxler

(76) Rear Admiral Chiraneau [VT-49 Decimator]
(14) Darth Vader
(6) Proximity Mines
(2) Skilled Bombardier
(3) Shield Upgrade
(5) Lone Wolf
(4) Dauntless
Points: 110

(81) Rexler Brath [TIE/D Defender]
(0) Jamming Beam
(2) Fire-Control System
(7) Juke
Points: 90

Total points: 200

Enjoy!
