Upcoming release schedule

Recommended Posts

As far as we all know, the following are to be released before July, Quarter 3.

Rebel Veterans

Tauntaun Riders

Sabine Wren

Shoretroopers

Dewback

Bossk

Downed AT-ST

That is 7 releases in the span of the next 8 weeks. I have two separate courses to receiving these.

First, we receive everything every other 2 weeks, 2 at a time, minus the Downed AT-ST as it's own.

Second, everything is delayed until a later time frame.

Thoughts?

There are other options beyond those:

Third: FFG has single pair of releases in May, everything else is in Q3.

Fourth: (and if the Upcoming page is actually accurate for once [HAHAHA]) We get a larger than normal May release, of the Corps and Specialists for both factions (for 4 total releases near the end of May), everything else is pushed back to Q3.

Also, since Legion releases have thus far mostly come in pairs, so it's slightly more accurate to say FFG has three model releases (of two model kits each) and one terrain release upcoming.

Odds are that Clone Wars will be on sale at Gencon and released everywhere in September, so it's likely:

May- Sabine, Bossk and Downed AT-ST

June- Tauntauns and Veterans

July- Dewback and Shoretroopers

Maybe the ATST is a single release and pushes the schedule out until August, but I imagine we'll have one more thing in there before Clone Wars.

Honestly, I truly believe that TCW will be released in July, August, and September. With the Starter and Trooper sets in July, Supports in August, and Heavies in September. Otherwise, if we move the months over to August and September that leaves July with no release for the expected timeline which is very much not what has been "scheduled" over the last year.

May: Bossk, Sabine, AT-ST

June: TTs and Vets

July: Dews and Shores

Aug: Gencon prerelease of TCW

September: Full release of Core set

Would be my best guess

I'll be among the first to say that FFG's "Upcoming" page has been horribly unhelpful in the past.

That said, I doubt your schedule as Bossk and Sabine are still listed as "At the Printer" while Dewbacks, Tauntauns, Shoretroopers, and Rebel Veterans are all listed as "On the Boat." Usually the order is pretty well indicated by what products move up in the Upcoming statuses fastest.

So far at least Legion hasn't had many/any releases get stuck on "On the Boat" for much over a month.

Card pack comes out with / after clone wars. Doesn’t change when CW releases

Thought it will be released before but probably you're right

Someone else was saying they thought TCW Core would release late Aug. I’m hoping they’re right, I’d hate to have to wait another month for the release, but I think what you laid out is probably accurate. If the TCW Core comes out late aug, we could see TCW heavies or other expansions in Sept... at least I hope.🤞

Sometimes FFG has had a HUGE release at Gencon only to have the item hit stores the following week. Just because CW will almost definitely be a Gencon early release, doesn't mean that it won't be out a week or two later at your LGS. Keep in mind, the CW starter is going to have a boatload more copies produced than what is being produced for a regular release right now. It will simply take longer to manufacture and ship than a regular monthly release does.

As a side note, the Gencon event list should pop up soon. That might give away some hints at what FFG expects to do with the release. If they have any "clone wars only" events, you'll likely see in the event description how they expect to release the game. Games that are released early at Gencon usually have a special way of making sure event participants get the goods in their hands without having to wait in the exhibition hall lines.

I've been predicting an August release for the Clone Wars stuff since before it was officially announced.  I'm still expecting an early release at GenCon, and a full release a few weeks later in late August. (just like they did with the Occupier and Landspeeder)  Whether or not we see Clone Wars heavies released then (as we did with the original heavies) or later remains to be seen.

My best Guess for release is:

May 23/30: Sabine and Bossk

June 20/27: Rebel Veterans/Tauntauns

July 25: Shoretroopers/Dewbacks

August 1-3 (GenCon), 22/29 (everyone else): TCW Core Wave 1 (Core set, Trooper Expansions, probably one more expansion per faction)

The AT-ST down pack will release somewhere in there.  I'd expect it in June or July, but who knows?

Yeah that website is unreliable as ****. I’m going off the order things have been announced which hasn’t been wrong

Unless they needed to take the Operatives back to planning in order to rebalance them after an issue was found in playtesting, or there were production issues with the customizability of the models. FFG has released products in other lines in a different order than they announced with no public explanation before and this might also be the case with Bossk and Sabine. I'm perfectly happy to be proven wrong though.

This is a very good point. FFG might have some more of the "Build and Play" style events like they did when the original core was released. Also, with Gencon taking place at the begining of August, FFG could potentially release the CW stuff at the end of the month, their usual release window.
