Is this a good book to get?

So I know nothing about the Android world setting, but I love cyberpunk settings (probably one of my favorites ever), and I love the FFG system.  To those of you who have read through it already, is it worth a buy?

Absolutely. Despite being based primarily in a universe made for FFG games, the world of android has a very rich background and unique elements that make it both different and exciting compared to other Cyberpunk universes.

Personally, I find it a much more compelling setting for Genesys than the Realms of Terrinoth setting.

Pick it up! You won't be disappointed. Also, the World of Android book fleshes out the world in much more detail. Both books are available in pdf format too at drivethrurpg.com.

I'd say if you love cyberpunk and Genesys, you can't go wrong here. Even if you don't want to use their setting, there's tons of stuff here to mine for your own cyberpunk worlds or for emulating the cyberpunk world of some other fiction or RPG.

I bought into it having played SW but not Genesys. I've got some friction with the system (both the SW version and Genesys, but the later is an improvement is several ways that matter to me), but the setting is OK--not great, but OK. It's playing it safe with cyberpunk and not really adding anything new to it. To be honest though, I also bought Worlds of Android a few days later and found it more enjoyable, so much so that I really haven't picked up SotB since then. It's more of something to read about in my eyes than something that looks like I'd enjoy running or playing in it.

The Android setting is pretty large and there is a lot of content for it outside of the SotB book. SotB by itself isn't enough to get good handle on the whole setting, but it is a fantastic place to start. You can also get the Worlds of Android setting book.

I would definitely recommend it. I've found it very useful for creating my own Cyberpunk themed campaign. But this is coming from someone who's only exposure to tabletop cyberpunk is being a player in a Shadowrun campaign.

I also find already owning a good number of the Star Wars books enhances SOTBS immensely. There's a lot of crossover.

Yeah, it’s pretty much only New Angeles.  They don’t even touch on mars.
