"Two sizeable ships"... time for completely uninformed speculation!!!!!!!!

It wouldn't surprise me if the Imperials get a Venator since, I assume, it's already being worked on/almost ready for production with CW on the way AND it's cannon. Plus, with 4 variants of the ISD FFG has already shown they want to get mileage out of their models where they can. As far as the Rebels go, whatever it is I hope it's a medium base. Those are sorely, and strangely, lacking for the space terrorists.

The Imperial Venator makes good sense, since we know Armada is getting two Clone Wars factions in 2020.

Similarly, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Rebel 'Huge', then, too - as the Lucrehulk (Droid Control Ship from Episode 1), which the Rebellion has canonically used.

That lets them do a 'Clone Wars Core Set' that has the Munificent-class Frigate for the Seps and Acclamator-class Assault Ship for the Republic, with Vulture Droids and V-19 squadrons, as well as cards and base plates to cross-faction the Venator and Lucrehulk alongside our existing Arquitens, Victories, and CR90s.

I'm betting on the StarHawk.

FFG got to design and premier the Raider in-canon with the collaboration of Lucasfilm. I'd love to see them do it again for another game. Raider became super popular in other media as well so I would imagine the powers that be would give them some credit. Definitely more inventive than most things that have come from the sequel trilogy...

I wouldn't hate to see it, but if Armada is following the same arc as X-Wing and Legion, then First Order/Resistance will end up their own factions.  And there just aren't enough ships in the sequel series (yet) to do that.  (And problematically, 1/3 of the First Order ships we've seen are FAR too large to fit into the game - and while the Mandator IV could technically fit, it's going to be half as big as the Super Star Destroyer, so not massively likely unless it gets a heck of a lot of screen time in Episode IX...)

Maybe some time after IX, and as the Mandalorian/Resistance TV series develop in this period.

My guess is a Dreadnought for the Imperials in the guise of the "Imperial Support Vessel" (though a dual-faction version would be amazing!) and a Correllian Gunship for the Rebels. The Dreadnought does have screen time so it is viable and we have already seen the Gunship in some of the alt-arts so that does lead some credibility to it as well.

These are also pretty realistic predictions.

I think it's pretty likely that we would get the star hawk for rebels. From what I remember in the aftermath series They are roughly the same length as an ISD so they would fall into large ship territory

As far as Imperials go. I think we could see the dreadnaught as a medium ship possibly.

My best hope would be Imperial Support Vessel (dreadnought) and the winged mon cal ship from the newer comics. It’s appeared a few times and would give FFG a lot of room for design space.

Barring that new winged design, then some sort of Rebel medium base. They need a medium base ship

Off-topic but I wish someone would remake this game!

FFG did, even giving it the same name.

Empire at War was an attempt to remake it, but I'm not quite sure it pulled it off.

Off-topic, too, but I replayed SW Rebellion a couple of months ago and it was still a really nice game. And there are updated mods with more ships... 😊

Empire at war is a nice game. Certainly with some of the current mods available, but the feel of rebellion was always better.

The board game is also very good

I'm crossing my fingers for a Nadiri Starhawk, and an Imperial Support Vessel.

(EU Dreadnought = Imperial Support Vessel)

I'm just repeating what I said a few months ago...this is my final prediction...

The Starhawk would make sense, and they would also be able to get creative with the design. But I don't know if they would give the Rebels another Large ship. We already have three (or six if you count the two variants) and Imperials only have one. . .admittedly with four flavors.

The Rebels could use another Medium ship. The MC40 could be a logical thing to fill this role, somewhere halfway between an MC30 and Liberty in terms of firepower and durability. That would also qualify as "decently sized."

On the Imperial side? Well, we already have the Quasar, so I don't think the Escort Carrier is a likely addition (unless they want to make it an insane carrier, like Squad 6, but then you're bordering on unbalancing the game). There are a lot of Legends ships that they could draw on - Lancers, Carracks, Tartans, Broadsides, Acclamators. . .and several of those would likely be Medium, again making it a "decently sized" ship.

I dont know if I already guessed, but here's my go:

Starhawk, Rebels, Huge Base (Model will be significantly smaller than SSD, reflected in Firepower, points etc.)

Lancer Frigate, Empire, Small Base

Good luck to everyone tonight. If I didn't have to be up early for work tomorrow I'd tale a shot everytime FFG mentions the following words:

RitR

Clone Wars

Huge

Decent-Sized

My two pence....

I don't think a Huge ship will be announced while the SSD is shipping.

I personally see it to be two large based ships for the rebels to counter the SSD.  Give 'em enough to stand up to the SSD.  Make it a better playing field for the treacherous rebellion.

No guess on what they are though...

Just saying but that would give the rebels 5 large base ships....

I don't think there will ever be a another huge ship unless something truly iconic appears onscreen in Rise of Skywalker. From a business standpoint it's just too much of a risk/ doesn't make sense. You can have an obscure small or medium ship and if it flops that's bad but not an unmitigated disaster. All the large ships though you'll notice, that's where they quit taking risks. They all appear in at least one Galactic Civil War Era movie not a one is from a book, comic, video game, etc.  there is simply nothing for the rebels that meet those criteria.
