So I finished the book and I got to say that it was definitely very different than the normal L5R fiction. This was because the story was essentially a bunch of Rokugani (Unicorn) forced to go on a journey to meet the in universe equivalent of a Muslim Caliphate.  Long story short, the Caliphate and Rokugan's cultures are very different from one another.
