Help me build a token ******* list

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I want to experiment with (Imperial) lists build heavily around objectives.

Can you guys help me with the 101 of objective/token ******* lists? What objectives to take and how to play them as well as list building tips and such.

Hi!

So there are two ways Imperials can directly mess with objectives: obstacle/deployment manipulation and strategic.

Strategic means bringing 1-2 Lambdas, Intel/Chiraneau to keep them moving tokens, Escort to keep them alive.  Mauler Mithel and Soontir Fel have good synergy with this group.  It’s also very useful to have “extra squadron move” upgrades like FCT or Squall for even better token control.

Good objectives for Strategic: Fire Lanes (hands down winner for yellow) Sensor Net, Salvage Run, Minefields.

Obstacle/deployment manipulation means bringing Grav Shift Reroute and/or G7-X on an Interdictor.  You may want to use one of the two experimental retrofit slots for Targeting Scrambler; that’s great too.  What you do varies from objective to objective, but basically: stop them from deploying close to the points, pull stations closer to you, throw obstacles into their path.

Good objectives for this: Station Assault (kind of), Contested Outpost, Salvage Run, Navigational Hazards (be careful.)

I've taken a look at your "We weren't expecting special forces"-thread and have been getting some ideas. Interesting lists!
What objectives do you tend to end up playing with these kinds of lists? I don't know if I'm right, but it seems like when facing a token list the yellow and blue objectives are kinda hopeless, so people are forced into Most Wanted or Advanced Gunnery.

Salvage Run seems like an objective where you pretty easily farm 80 points if you have the Lambdas for it.

Would you mind helping me understand how you would play Minefields with a list like the Sloane ISD+Quesar?

None of the objectives are foolproof; even Fire Lanes can backfire if they kill the shuttles.  Generally, though, it’s either Advanced Gunnery so they have a chance to earn points or the blue, which can sometimes be powered through.

Sure; just keep in mind that particular list is theory, since I expect it to play pretty differently than 1-2 shuttles.  I would probably throw the obstacles/mines into the center of the table as much as possible, then deploy the Quasar straight down the middle against the back edge with the ISD to one side.  If they’re across from the ISD, I’d probably slow roll while the Lambdas move up, throw mines in their path and then bomb (Sloane makes them decent at hitting ships.)  If they’re not across from the ISD, even better: just hit them with mines.  Whichever side the enemy ships are on, the Quasar turns toward the other side of the minefield, using it as protection.  If they’re on both sides, move it flanking/behind the ISD, which is more than happy to engage a portion of the enemy fleet and will draw fire while doing so.  Given the distance requirements, it might be easier to put the station off to one side; this could be a nice way to play some head games with your opponent’s deployment.

Again, just theory.  For a long time I ran a different Sloane strategic list with tons of generic TIEs and AG, Fire Lanes and Superior Positions.  All absolutely terrible choices.  It was a pretty even spread between the three, with AG being picked a little more and SP going the worst for most players.
