Call for suggestions: What are you having fun with that we should try??

I flew this earlier tonight against some Imperials (Vader, Maarek, Jendon, and a generic TIE Aggressor with missiles) and had fun:

Total: 198

Most people who run the Scum YT-1300 seem to go for Han with Trick Shot for that delicious 5-dice attack. However, with Trick Shot going up in price, gas clouds everywhere, and my questionable ability to actually line up Trick Shot when I need to, I've been thinking about alternatives recently. Plus I wanted to try Zuckuss, who hasn't seen much play, and the 1300 seemed like one of the better carriers for him.

I won, and it performed reasonably well, although I wouldn't necessarily expect it to win tournaments. Han is less powerful, but a bit more consistent. Zuckuss helped push a damage through more than once, which was nice (including the final shot on Vader!). Hotshot Gunner made Han's attacks somewhat annoying even when they were only two dice.

Variants I might try would be different wingmen (you could fit another Fang instead of the Gand, but I only own two - although honestly the Gand did okay); or maybe changing Han to Lando+Title+Hotshot+L3-37, if you want to punish stress instead of parking behind rocks, or you prefer re-rolling your own dice to theirs.

Fun New Builds With Tie /FOs

Tie FO pilots went down 1-2 points across the board. This might not seem like a lot, but it makes all the difference for a spammable chassis. Here are 2 builds that were previously illegal:

 

Three I1 FOs and Fanatical Scorch along two /SFs with gunner

200 points down from 211, this swarm doesn't need to fly in formation, so take big rocks to make your opponent chase you through. 15 Dice behind frustrating to kill ships goes a long way.

• 6 Advanced Optics FOs

Who needs Howlrunner in the First Order? All your FOs get very accurate attacks, allowing them to chip away at your opponent. Longshot and Scorch add additional firepower, and Rivas gets to prey on ships relying on linked actions. Down 10 points to 200.

This version with the HWK looks more sophisticated, though it loses the 5th 3rd die of firepower. Honestly, I'm not sure if Leia is really worth it even with the Bs. I did just fine without her in the above list. 

You definitely don't have a bid for PS2, however you do gain the ability to jam with the HWK.  (taking off reinforces, or just making a much bigger area of pseudo-bump with no dice mod actions). In theory you could also be 4 straight on the first turn with Leia, but I doubt that'd be the best way to use it.

Anyway, go out and play it and make me famous people. 

I forgot to add. The first list was quite good. The attack shuttle was a bit easy to kill. You want to be putting a medium density field, and then set up in two groups close to each other so you have two ways of approaching a lot more area to block.

been a while. 

 

I was hoping to build a death flower-y (read, shoots everything everywhere) DEATH SHRIMP resistance bomber, but my plan got foiled:

The part that works: ResBomber + VTG, place turret on sides, fly in close into R1 of many things. Get 3 and 2 dice out 270 degrees, two attacks, and R1 bonus maybe on two different arcs? could go up easily to 7 dice a turn output. 
The part that didn't work: Finch Dallow + Paige Tico -> Proximities Mines, cuz Proximities Mines aren't bombs. Sadly I think this just doesn't work, but does anyone know of a way to drop proximities mines on people easily? 

 

I'm thinking power and death right now. Who can deliver?

Bravo's rock up take focus evade with ship ability, then at I5 Obi-Wan gives both the TL they need to hit the target. During the engagement phase he uses his ability to make sure they keep the focus to hit with double mods.

This actually sounds pretty decent. Especially with the focus staying alive. 

Better than Passive Sensors cuz that's during that ship's engagement at PS2. 

 

Do you feel like you need the bid? I've been running daredevil on Ric, its been quite effective.

Put out a dense field of rocks on my right side against a slightly less mobile opponent. Deployed mostly on the right. 
But then, moved one I1 hard left as an idiot flanker. These survive two shots generally. One I1 thru the rocks as a blocker. Kylo kind of thru the middle, and Midnight off the very right side for a flank. You just let the enemy derp around with the I1s long enough for Kylo to do mid-game damage, and then taking Midnight or Kylo into end game is pretty good. 

That Proton Torp on Kylo packs a massive punch. 

That Kylo build feels like taking a super fighter into battle. It might not quite be the ace of aces, but sure feels good to punch someone in the face.

Predator looks pretty solid on Ric as well. I think I'd drop predator to put CLT on obi-wan though so he has something worth doing after the torps are away

Boba and Emon. PerCo, Proxies and titles for both, plus bonus bombs for Emon. Proxies on top, guaranteed.

I've been having a lot of fun and some victories in Fly Casual using Airen Cracken with Cluster Missiles, giving double moded shots and stress tokens to Braylen and Ten Numb. Requires flying tight but it is really powerful.

Ever seen a ship pull a lateral shift?  Reveal a 3 straight (blue) maneuver, Advanced Sensors a 1-turn red boost with Daredevil, execute maneuver and remove stress, then use Dalan’s ability to turn 90-degrees and return to original facing or face opposite of original facing.  

Guri makes that ship into a nightmarish beast, but Dalan can make it tap-dance.

I have been trying to make the bomber work as a 'gunfortress' as well.  Sadly I think its just better to take Rey.  I need to try a cheap Vennie build.  
I flew this last night too and it did ok but Finch just dies real quick.

Moving second for Obi-Wan is huge for the Bravo's against other I5's. It's a nice bonus for Ric too.

Sad, cuz Daredevil is sooo good on Ric. I would take it way over Predator. 

Yet you are right about the I5 bid. 

Also sad that no room for CLT on Obiwan. He's gonna hit like a wet pool noodle.

Generally I find this list theoretically amusing. I love the possibility of the whole I5 coordinate and extra focuses, but getting those PTs on target will be the name of the game, plus putting Ric into Endgame, but if the opponent is able to dodge those PTs, a large 2/3s of your list goes out the window. That level of error likely means you're banking on the gimmick and you will lose if that happens. 

Off of gut feeling (no table time yet), I'd rate this list as exceptionally probable to be outplayed, difficult to use. Yet, strong component and battle plan, good planB with Ric Ace. 

The offense is unfortunately, middling: In theory, 2x 4dice TL F + Ric conditional 3 die is good (its worse cuz no Daredevil and Predator doesn't proc as often as Daredevil allows 3rd die) + Obiwan 2 dice F (really bleh) 
Its near equivalent to Wedge Luke PTs + Uwing, but in this case, the PTs have a much higher chance of being correctly placed on target. This drops it to middling.

Still trying to decide on whether I prefer Advanced Optics or Pattern Analyzer on Kylo. 

Optics really helps his damage output, but Pattern Analyzer is great for duels. Getting to do red maneuvers through obstacles and still take an action is great too.

That's my assessment as well, it really comes down to execution. That being said, I'm impressed by Obi-Wan's ability to knife fight after the opening engagement, proper force management means it's easy to fire r1/tl/force on most targets. I truly expected to ignore his contributions but in both games I've played he's done work.

Honestly I've been having more trouble figuring out how to get value out of Ric without being as predictable as the Japanese passenger rail system.

that's great Nyxen. 

Look, I'm the super duper numbers guy. Mathwing, focus-rule all day err-day. But let me tell you. Daredevil is NUMBERS. I didn't believe it at first. Over Juke?? But after playing it for like 4 games or so, it is THE CHOICE for Ric. It becomes numbers because it lets you turn on that 3rd die a lot more often. You can easily go 4s or 5s in many places where you'd not be able to, and that kills a lot of counterplea by savvy players trying to go 3 while turning. Yes, its without focus for an honestly middling 1.5 avg hits. But I'm also arc dodging a lot of the time and saving lots of HP there. Also, arc dodged R1 shots happen, making it 2hits avg (4/2). This is great for defense too, so I'm much more inclined to just toss Ric into the danger zone, knowing he can ability+evade+dodge+regen. And he can fly a lot more places and a lot more unpredictably. It just gives so many more options that turn into real savings of damage. 

Weirdly enough, I'm exactly opposite on you for Obiwan without 7b or CLT. Against strong combatants trying to blast him, I find it pretty difficult to deal enough damage fast enough to not get plonked.

With this particular build, my opponents have been mainly focusing on the N-1's and letting Obi-Wan do things he normally wouldn't, correctly assuming that killing either my torp while in the tubes or getting Ric off the board will be more influential than removing Obi-Wan's 2 dice. I really think it comes down to what he's supporting.

I'm considering:

Scorch with Fanatical + Advanced Optics

4x Zeta Squadron Survivor with Passive Sensors and Cluster Missiles (or perhaps Homing Missiles?)
