Legion at Gen Con 2019

Recommended Posts

Will be attending my first Gen Con this year, bit sad considering how long I have been gaming.

Any idea what we can look forward to from Fantasy Flight Games and Legion Specific related items?

Clone Wars wold be a welcome sight.

Someone told me it was doubtful , but an exclusive/alternate version  miniature would be awesome.

With Clone wars being on the verge a Qui-Gon Jinn or Darth Maul  might be sharp!

August is probably too early for Clone Wars to be finished, but maybe they'll show it off there. Just seems unlikely that they pulled the trigger on Clone Wars at the start of 2018 to have it back from the factories by late summer.

A lead time of 18-20 months is too early?  Even if they only started designing the Clone Wars stuff the day before it was announced last August, that's still over a year to this GenCon.

honestly i bet they had been planning the clone wars since the beginning.  It seems to fit this style of game better than the GCW.  Also Alex Davey said that the had the first two years of content already planned out and the clone wars should definitely fall into that time frame.  I'm guessing that they will either time the clone wars with the start of the new season of the show or release it during the big Star Wars release day in September.  They might wait until the holidays but that might take away from any tie in with the new movie.

No, I mean, I don't think they decided to make Clone Wars that long ago. I think they designed the game and slated the whole year's worth of releases thing up front, and waited to see how it went. Then most likely in the summer they decided to do Clone Wars, possibly due to popular demand. If that is what happened that would put Q4 at 16 to 18 months later. Which is a realistic amount of time required to go from management decision to game store shelves.

You won’t see clone wars in legion until fall or winter.  I would say September will be the absolute earliest that clone wars will be on shelves.  They may officially announce clone wars at gen con but it’s still a long ways away from a release.

Even with the "whole year of releases" thing, we're already hitting that mark, if not past it with the Occupier/Landspeeder and Sabine/Bossk releases.  Clone Wars stuff was likely well in the works before it was announced, just as the X-Wing 2.0 and Clone Wars expansions were.  There would have been no reason to announce they were bringing Clone Wars content in unless it was something they had already been working on.

The latest I'd expect to see it on the shelves in September.  Last year, the big "spring" announcement was for X-Wing with 2.0, with an early release at GenCon, and on the shelves in September.  And that was without any previous announcement they were doing it in the first place.  I really expect Clone Wars in Legion to follow that trend, with the shelve date possibly pushed up to allow for simultaneous release with the new season of The Clone Wars.

Was catching up on one of the Legion podcasts and one of the developers was talking about having viewed Clone Wars items.

Granted this could have been rules, mock-up models or pre-game concept designs but from the way he sounded it was something "special".

And not to be a broken record, but it should be remembered that when Clone Wars content was announced for X-Wing and Legion, they said that the X-Wing announcements would be made in November, and Legion would get more info "early next year."  X-Wing had its announcement on Nov. 9, so they have thus far stuck to the schedule.  The end of March is still early enough for a reveal, while GenCon in August would not, under any circumstances, classify as being "early next year."

I read fall or winter. Then remembered the planet has those things called hemispheres. Thankfully our summer is almost over. :D

For everyone pointing out that they think Clone Wars wont be till Fall or Winter. FFG didn't say they were doing Clone Wars at last Gencon because they made up their minds a few days before that. By the time they even said anything, they had likely PTd the core set and were about to proof it. It will be ready for Gencon. Especially if it has a Fall/Winter release. To have some flown in to Gencon is about right for the actual sets to release around October. (Boats being much slower than planes).

If FFG has any shot at preselling at Gencon, they will take it. It's worth so much money to them, it's not even funny. Twilight Imperium 4 was released at Gencon and didn't make it to store shelves until February, I believe. Don't Doubt how soon this stuff can be released.

In relation to the OP, if a Clone Wars starter is at Gencon, expect a "first tournament" for Clone Wars product. If they have this event planned, you'll probably see it in May when the event listing goes up.

Yeah and with my Seven Year's War game I'm really hoping for an Oliver Cromwell miniature too.

While certainly a step down from pillaging Ireland, I'm sure Cromwell would have had a blast burning down half of Quebec.

I'm pretty sure the Specialists was as far as they had planned at release for Star Ware Legion based on an interview I heard, meaning Clone Wars and the Rogue One stuff + Bossk & Sabine are all a result of the games success.

This is a good thing though.
