**coughcough** FFG **coughcough**

We need more ships in the tiny Armada mode that fit this game...currently only about 4 of the smuggler ships fit the Outer Rim game.....

Or maybe @melminiatures could put together a set for us of Armada-scaled ships:

4× G-9 Rigger / Twilight (starter)

4× G1-A Starfighter / Mist Hunter (starter)

(1× modified YT-1300/Millennium Falcon)

(1× Firespray-31 patrol craft /Slave One)

1× GX1 Short Hauler/Valorous

(1× Lancer Pursuit craft / Shadowcaster)

(1× YV-666 light freighter / Hound's Tooth)

(1× HWK-290 Freighter / Moldy Crow)

(1× Aggressor-class assault fighter / IG-2000)

1× Heavy duty lifter / Ark Angel

Some of these are available in the Armada squadron packs, I put them in brackets.

There could also be minis for the patrol tokens, though most of them would need to be a much smaller scale:

I've been able to identify the following patrol tokens from YouTube unboxings:

Rebel Alliance:
(Y-wing)
(X-wing)
Corellian Corvette
Mon Cal cruiser

Hutt Cartel:
Scyk
Kimogila
TL-1200 transport
???

Crimson Dawn:
(Z-95)
Star Viper
Bulk cruiser
Kalevalan Star Yacht / First Light

Empire:
(Lambda shuttle)
???
Escort carrier
Star Destroyer

Some of these are available in the Armada squadrons packs, I put them in brackets.
The non-fighter patrol tokens would need to be scaled down.

If anyone recognizes the other ships from the blurry screencap or video below, or spots any misidentification of mine, please help me fill in the blanks.

….or maybe the ARMADA ships models (the really little ones) maybe are a better fit!...

Absolutely. Two big problems though.....

1. Quite pricey if you're not already an Armada gamer

2. Always out of stock

I don't really have either of these two problems. My issue is having to either buy extra for Outer Rim or remembering to put them back with my Armada stuff after playing.

So, one drawback to using ships as player markers in the game is that it is possible all four players will start out with the same ship.  I suspect this is why FFG chose to use the character on the marker instead of the ship.

Options:

Character minis from IA or Legion instead of or sharing a base with the ships.

Paint the starter ships in four different colours, the others are unique AFAIK.

If I had, I’d use IA figures on the outer rim and x wing model on my ship card :)

X-wing scale gets expensive fast for the ones that aren't released for the game, though.

E.g. GX1 short hauler 32€ in X-wing scale, whereas Armada scale transports are 3 for €15 or 5 for €25, plus you get loads of the player ships from a single FFG "rogues and villains pack".

Yeah that’s true.  I already own a good number of ships.  So I’d only do that for ones I already own, like Hounds Tooth.

good or bad, I’ll always play Hounds Tooth :)

I can report, X Wing models, while mostly unsuited for actual use in game, make amazingly atmospheric props around the board!

I place my Falcon, HWK and Firespray around the galaxy between encounter decks, and I place some fighters where the patrol spawn (a-Wing, TIE, z-95 and fang). They look great!
